Williams work rate and engine is amazing, but generally without any end product, and if there is any sort of behind the scenes disruptive influence then it may be a good time to get rid, and get some much needed cash for Brian to spend. I would love for Fernandez to be given more game time as well, i really feel he could be a big player given time to settle into the squad. A midfield of Quinn, Norwood, Tishibola, Fernandez, Evans and this other Spanish dude seems pretty strong to me.

Yeah, guess your right....even if they could release a bit of the Williams cash (If Sold) to buy Fernandez on a permanent basis i would be happy. :D

Be disappointed to see him go, but he's not quite the complete player.

He drives us forward well, but too often into blind alleys and he has a real tendency to blaze nothing shots high and wide. He's not the best positionally in defence either. I think Tish would do fine in his place. Maybe Evans but he seems to be more a deeper player.

I'd want £2m - £3m for him if we could get £4m for Blackman

Totally agree Ian, anything over $2.5m would be a bonus, hopefully our D.O.F can work his magic again. I would also like Brian to start utilizing a few more of our academy players. We are maybe 6-9 points off safety, with no real chance of the play-offs now so lets start giving Tish, Stacey, Fosu a run out for the rest of the season, we have nothing to lose.

Mr Optimist Adds up when you think of George Evans coming in and the Spanish geezer on trial.

Must have an attitude, surprised he's not on bench ..

I'm currently sat in the bar of the Middlesbrough Clarion and Williams and his agent are sharing a bottle of wine with Bryan Robson.......

I don't deny that Williams can sometimes win matches, but I think he is a loose canon in not-a-good-way. One example would be the screamer he scored recently (we won 1-0)

BUT

despite the fact he scored and we won, I would have bollocked him for the shot. It wasn't brilliance like Siggy, it was a welly that came off, when there was a clear, simple pass to put Blackman in, a Blackman who was our clear top-scorer

People rave about his energy. What I want to see from central midfielders is clean sheets because the opposition hardly ever gets to see our back five.

I would choose Norwood, Tish, Quinn, Fernandez and the new guy ahead of Williams in a 442.

Snowball People rave about his energy.

And rightly so but (unlike Stephen Hunt, who also had a lot of energy) Danny's energy has the effect of energising the whole team and, for that reason, I would be mega-disappointed if we lose him. And, although he is a fiery character who is not afraid to have a go at his team-mates if they under-perform, I don't think he is a disruptive influence within the squad. When he scores the rest of the side seem delighted for him and he also seems to delight in someone else scoring. My main concern about him is his discipline, although I don't think he has received a red card during his time at Reading(?). But, through the middle, he gives the team its drive! Man of the Season so far for me!!!

I remember him being sent off right at the death, may have been Ipswich last season.

If he occasionally attempted a pass 2 steps earlier he'd be lethal.

Edit: It was Charlton

A few people here saying they'd rather see Fernandez play than Williams and cash in on him?!

Mad, head's gone, head in sand comments of giant ostrich-esque proportions. What oxf*rd planet are some of you lot on?

Huff and puff calls attention to itself, can often flatter to deceive

His career stats are over 20,000 minutes for 15 goals and 7 assists total

That's about either a goal or an assist every ten games

Admittedly, this season is better (and he might be peaking)

5 goals and 2 assists in 2615 minutes (374 mins, 4+ games)

Last season he had ONE goal and zero assists in 32 appearances (2,493 minutes)

IMO he causes far too many flowing moves to break down. We get a 2-3-4-man move, it reaches Williams who often then goes on a run which seems purposeless, a sort of Sunday-football mentality. It was very similar thing with Blackman

of course if he's ever-present and keeps going on runs, taking shots, he'll get SOME goals but THE TEAM would probably get more team goals if he played in a way that slotted in better. I mean by that it's like having 9 outfield players plus Williams, not 10 players with the same group goal

I could rationalise Blackman and Sa leaving. Not this one, he's my favourite player in our squad :(

Who gives a shit about the stats?

It's quite clear that Williams offers something other than goals and assists.

Stats don;t provide the full picture for a player like Williams.
