Streets For £3m that would be great.

Dodgy temperment and clumsy in the tackle.

Dubes, Ivar and Pearce are more than suitbale as first teamers, Sonko is still around too.

C'ya!

WTF!

I think your recent separation may have gone to your head.

£3m for a defender that has potential but "can't keep his concentration for 90 minutes." That's to quote Steve Coppell.

If any defender has to go I'd prefer it was Sonko, then Bikey.

Pearce was very impressive at Norwich and I would love to see him get a chance. Ivar is solid and more suited to this level as he isn't quite as quick as he once was, same for Dubes who is very reliable and a leader.

If Sonko could grow dreads we could sell him telling Roy Keane he is Bikey?

Failing that Sodje looks like him.

Roy Keane is up for anything after the Halford transfer.

Ideal This is sickening, why would we want to sell Bikey?

Maybe he's indicated that he wants to go?

Isnt this part of "trimming" the squad that Coppell wants, as in trimming the amount of players, and trimming the chances of a return to that nasty expensive Premier league ?

Coppell showed last season that he's not 100% convinced on Bikey as a defender.

Yes he has all physical qualities but there are still moments where he lets himself down. He's still a young talent though and has the potential to be a very good defender but maybe Coppell has faith in his other defenders and the club to get us promoted again.

Faith in the players who've done it before...sounds familiar doesn't it?

So if he wanted to leave you would be happy for the club to keep him here against his will? What use will he be to us then?

If he wants to leave and our valuation is met then he will leave. There is nothing the club can do to stop him.

That's not quite the line you were taking on the RTG Sunderland message board when they were courting Steven Hunt back in January. I can't quote you verbatim but it was along the lines that we didn't need to sell and that you'd be surprised if Hunt left Reading in that particular window no matter how much Sunderland offered.

I agreed with you then, so I can't now.

I can reluctantly understand the logic of selling Dave Kitson for the sum we were offered. Bikey is an entirely different kettle of fish and represents our clubs future, imho.

He looks nothing like him apart from being black! Are you blind! Thats like saying Sheringham looked like Shearer.

Times are different now and we have been relegated. Hunt wouldn't have been leaving for Premiership football whereas those that want to leave now are. If we were still in the Premiership I would still have the same opinion i had in January.

I'd be devastated if Bikey went. IMO he is the future along wiv Matejovsky, and I would rate losing Bikey alongside losing marek. I can't see Bikey turning round to coppell and demanding a move back to the premier league, I think he's prob still glad just to be out of Russia. I will be shocked and appalled if Bikey goes. I'm almost positive he'll stay - altho I prob said that about kits a couple of weeks ago

And look at what keeping players here who didn't want to be here got us, yep relegation.

As hard as it may hurt, if any player has made it clear he wants to go, then I'd rather he went - it gives us as a club the best chance to move forward again.

Agree with that 100%.

Although he should a lot of ability at times Bikey wasn't even our first choice central defender last season and so I don't think this would be such a bad deal.

Consistency and not making errors are more important for defenders than the odd spectacular tackle and, although he shows signs of improving, Bikey still goes wandering and takes too many risks to be lauded as highly as he is. Having said that, he's probably still now our best defender (going on form) and we'll be weaker without him.

What I find odd is the cult status of Marek and Bikey.
Neither have played many games for us,both have been dropped and both have obvious weaknesses where one loses concentration and the other can't tackle.
It shows how far we have fallen that these two are now thought by many on here as key players.
Personally I hope that they both stay and are regulars in our side but losing Kitson IMHO is a bigger loss than losing any other player.

It's about potential BR2, and Bikey has bags of it. At times he was brilliant in the Premier League, which suggests he can be a stand out player in the Championship.

I don't disagree-it's just that he needs to be much more consistent and hopefully he will be a regular for us for many years to come.
As per my earlier post I hope that he gets a slight injury at The Olympics to make sure that no transfer takes place.
Maybe he will chin somebody there and these other clubs decide that he is too risky a proposition to go for.
