WoodleyRoyal The United chairman, who wants a British manager

"I have always said I wanted a British coach for this club," he said.
"I am a man of my word and that is still the case. I want to get someone in place soon."

If it was to be Dolan, the move would come as a real surprise

Yes, because he Irish, not British.

Ireland is in the British Isles (a geographical feature) but not part of Great Britain (another geographical feature). So, it is quite simple to argue that Mr Dolan is British. It is also quite feasible that he is actually British anyway, with Irish roots (just listen to him speak, there isn't much of an Irish accent there).

He was born in Galway. Unless the English have invaded Ireland again, he's very Irish.

Yeah, it's not like there is any historical tension and a wealth of political background on this matter, is there?

Duh, it's next to Britan so it is Britan really.

If only we put it that way to Jerry Adams all those years ago.

Which is why the rugby team is just the British Lions rather than the British and Irish Lions.

Well actually I was picturing Paul Eddington hands on hips rolling his eyes at Penelope Keith until Sydenham cleared things up for us.

Most thought I was on about the British Government proposing Ireland's proximity is reason enough for union, to molecular biologist Jerry McKee Adams, symbiotic as it is to his research into the genetics of haemopoietic differentiation and malignancy.
