TiagoIlori Would rather we avoided on the basis that I feel it would be sentimental than actual ability.

If my memory serves me right, often he was a poor player for us and had 1 or 2 purple patches a season. If we want to get promoted we need players who can deliver consistently. He is a big personality which we liked here but sounds like it was downfall at Cardiff which also concerns me.

We can’t just bring in players not good enough for the division above on the basis that “they’d do a job in league one”. If he’s genuinely the best option we have then fair enough, but feel we should be looking for those who already play in the division.

I don’t think its fair at all to say he was often poor with a few purple patches.

You seem to be misrepresenting people's reasons for signing him too.

We're going to struggle very hard to recruit quality League One players with the potential to step up from within League One, especially without paying significant (at this level) fees to prize them away from.their current club.

My post was not, on the whole, meant to be representative of what I felt people wanted him for. The point I was more so getting at is that Cardiff fans being happy to see the back of him is perhaps a very good indicator at how the past two seasons have gone for him. That doesn’t exactly show much indication of a player who is at least now good enough for the championship. At 29 he’s unlikely to get any better.

My acknowledgment he could well still be the best option out there already addresses the things about fees.

I'm sure back in the day, QPR fans would have been glad to see the back of Leigertwood, Burnley fans same on Glen Little etc etc
