Pepe the Horseman RIP Terry Nutkins

Oscar Childe The Ballad of Reading Goal
He did not wear his vortex gloves
For he’d left them on his bed
His fingers and palms were mighty bruised
From the ball off Bamber’s head
But better that than diving wrong
And letting Swindon hit the net
He walked amongst the other side
In their various shabby kits
And never felt he’d be outmatched
In a strategic battle of wits
For he is Wes Foderingham
And makes Swindon look like tits
I never saw a man who looked
With such a wistful eye
Upon that kit of white and blue
Like colours ripped from sky
With every striker’s hopeless kick
It could never end a tie
I walked, with other souls in pain,
Within another ground
And wondered if the home team
Were as bad as Swindon town
When a voice behind me whispered low
“No-one’s that bad, you clown”
Dear Christ, the very stadium walls
Suddenly seemed to reel
Woderingham stopped the strikers shot
With a classic goalie kneel
And though I was a soul in pain,
Reading FC have kept it real
