cmonurz Quite who you think we should be buying as a PL team I don't know.

That's what I want to know as well. What sort of a signing would actually excite you? (winchester, not cmonurz)

Honestly? Right now I'd like to see us sign up some fit cheerleaders and the winner of golden gamble (which will be changed to golden shower) will win... well you get the idea.

The club need to give a little back.

Doesn't exactly sound like meltdown is imminent on that basis but what the hell, I'd love to melt.

Re Welbeck, it's enough the same thing to warrant my comment. So much negativity on here every time we show a bit of impetus and risk in the transfer market.

Quite who you think we should be buying as a PL team I don't know. Players who come risk free aren't interested in Reading. So what's your big idea? We've seen with Zaha what happens when you aren't prepared to take a gamble on someone. And Rhodes scoring record at Blackburn isn't too shabby, if it's a striker we're after.

We don't know if this Palacios deal will go ahead - if it does, how about we live by that oft used mantra 'Brian knows what he is doing?'

The Welbeck news, while it lasted, was met with overwhelming positivity and jubilation...quite embarrassing really given there was sod all truth in it.

I think we should be doing what we are doing. Going for young, talented players who will increase in value and are available at a reasonable price for a club of our size. Unless an older player who is really going to affect our season and make a difference becomes available (ala Roberts last season) I don't see the point of going away from that.

All I questioned was why this signing is being seen as better than the Akpan one given Palacios' record in the last few years.

Quite what I did to deserve your tirade of abuse is lost on me..but I'm sure you have your reasons.

It's not a tirade of abuse, but congratulations for trying to turn it into something personal when I was just voicing my opinion, which is the opposite to yours.

Sorry if my responses are coming across in another way, perhaps it's because you appear much of the time to be the club's mouth-piece. That's the second time you've made the point about buying 'young players who will increase in value', but of course when I mentioned Zaha to this point yesterday, you reminded me why, again, that's different.

If it's Palacios I'm more likely to freeze than melt tbh.

In the article he said they were PL but ruled out Welbeck and Huddlestone... hasn't ruled out Arshavin though...

Sorry but I find posts directed at me in the aggression tone that you're employing to be quite abusive.

Just because I agree with the club's policy of mostly purchasing assets that won't have completely depreciated in value in 2 years (like every other business in every other sector of the economy) unless that older person will make a significant difference in the year or so they'll be here it doesn't make me their mouthpiece

As for the Zaha point, if you still can't get what I'm trying to say Re: that particular saga then I doubt you ever will. The club thought the chances of him being worth more than the £6m Palace were asking for were not worth the risk of such a significant outlay is what I imagine to be the reason behind the refusal to pay it. Mistake in hindsight? Yes. Mistake in judgement of potential? Yes. Mistake in decision having made that judgement of potential? Absolutely not.

So in theory, if true, it could all depend on whether Tulisa gives her permission for 'im to come down sarf

winchester_royal The guy is an unfit Leigertwood. Would much rather see the money spent elsewhere.

M8, I don't remember Leigertwood commanding a place at Spurs, or a £12m transfer fee. His injury record and recent form is a concern, but that's the only reason he's (supposedly) within our reach. The reason Leigertwood plays for us is not because injuries have scuppered his chance to compete at a higher level. It's because his general lack of talent has scuppered his chance to compete at a higher level.

but zaha is already expensive, so teh chances he will increase in value are much less

and lol at all that shit about just being my own opinion, then having a go about him always being the club mouthpiece
