He wasn't good enough at the time. He ended up at Poole I believe before Swindon picked him up. Sometimes players have to take step back and work there way up through the ranks a bit like Dave Kitson.

Would be another Rhodes Saga - they would ask for too much money.

He's scored 14 times in 11 games so far this season  11 in 8 in the league.

We won't buy him though. Without him, Burnley would be in the relegation zone and so their owner's will ask for as much if not more than Rodriguez went for (6/7m I believe?). Even if we're struggling I can't see us splashing out on unproven prem players.

Ideal I can't see us splashing out on anyone, we'll be rooted to the bottom and anyone who would join us would be asking insane wages.
Also the january window has a history of producing inflated prices, and we have a track record of coming out with statements like "Oh we don't want to buy anyone in january because prices are too high, we'll wait until the summer" (c) Steve Coppell.

Anyhow, let's not despair, we knew we were in for a rough ride this year, and as long as we put up a good fight I don't see too many of us being to disappointed if we go down.

FWIW - We're not going down.

HTH

Why would we want a Swindon Reject?

Hardly a reject as Swindon sold him, when he was prolific for them + went up a division by joining Burnley.

Surely anyone that has worn the red of Swindon Town is a Reject! From Society at least!

Danny Ings coming back for them, not sure they'd be able to turn us down if we did go in for him

USA_Loyal_Royal looks to be a promising striker. good for the last few seasons on a midtable championship side. maybe worth a punt in January? i know he was in our youth system, i dont know why we let him go.

When we sold Nathan Tyson to Wycombe, we got Simon Church and Scott Davies in exchange. Church and Bignall were judged to be better than Austin, so Austin was released.

Nicky Hammond was Academy Director at the time and as we'd paid money for Church (£10K I believe), he dictated that Church be picked over Austin every week. Austin got fed up and left the academy, moving down to Poole and playing there - the rest is as they say, history...I don't expect he'd come back to the club whilst Hammond is still here.

If there is a choice between Hammond and Austin I know which one I'd choose and it isn't Austin.

Reading are ready to spend £4-million on Charlie Austin, says The Sun this morning. Fulham and West Brom also interested.

No chance he'll be back. Another case of favouritism gone wrong. What the hell was going through their minds keeping Bignall though. I've watched him through the academy and Youth, and never been impressed. He had half a good season in the whole time he was there and if it wasnt for that final year in the academy he would have been released.
