Blakey's Right Peg We won't be getting him, so I wouldn't worry.

Agreed was much as I want him to join us just can't see it

its probably not going to happen, but earlier in his transfer saga i think he was quoted having jason roberts telling him how amazing reading is to play for. apparently it made him want to come here somewhat. that coupled with some high intent signings that we have already made might push him to want to come here. maybe if he met with az and bm they could convince him...

gazzer, loyal royal there is actually some truth in this.

we've spoken with his agent, but as you can imagine WCBAP

wouldn't be surprising if we went back in for him. No Club so probably would lower weage demands. We've set out our stall by paying Guthrie and Pog the same so offer him that. theres a precedent set now.

Stands a chance

it seems like since he is available we should be going in for him...werent we very interested in him before he seemed likely to go to germany? maybe this one is under wraps just like how not many people knew guthrie was coming in before his surprise signing...

fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap etc. 50k a week?????? if he wants 50k a week a lot of the sides that want him now are going to be put off...its not like chelsea, united, or city are after him...if we could get him for 40k a week that would be a good piece of business. not breaking our wage structure and possibly the best signing reading would have ever made.

If he wants 50K a week after a couple of promising seasons the world really has gone mad. The only way forward is for clubs to refuse to pay these extortionate salaries and then hopefully players will find themselves sitting out of the game for a few months. Then reality might dawn.

Sadly it seems someone will always be desperate enough to pay.

i dont know bro, i dont see many clubs that will be willing to pay 50k a week for him. for many clubs in the premier league wouldnt he be their top earner with 50k? the top clubs wont be looking at him, the only clubs who want him wont pay 50k a week. i trust nick hammond to be able to negotiate the price down to something we could afford. that is if we do in fact go after him.

also he fits the perfect mold for reading. hardworking, young, hungry, player. 80+ premier league matches at 22 years old. he would be the best winger we have by far. however, i think our need for an attacking midfielder is more prudent, but if we dont go for another striker and sign hoilett and an attacking midfielder it would be reasonable.

He won't be very hungry on 50k a week.

if we can sign him on 35-40k a week and have some add-ons or something in the contract that his pay could go up if we meet certain requirements he will be hungry.

Darren Caskey was probably the hungriest player I've ever seen in a Reading shirt.

He's a good player, but it looks like he's priced himself out of a move by asking for ridiculous wages.

You'd think teams like Spurs, NUFC and Gladbach would be instantly more appealing than a year in the Championship under a manager who doesn't have a clue (Nuno Gomes!).

If he's that much of a mercenary he seems to value 50k p/w more than regular football then not sure he's the player for Reading.
