Alan Partridge
Royal Rother 26.

I wonder - does the fact that he seems to have fallen out big-time with Keane make him more appealing, or less so?

Makes no odds really, not to me anyway. Keane is the sort of bloke that would fall out with anyone. This could be a load of rubbish but from looking at Stead and his career, he seems to be the lad that needs an arm round the shoulder and not a bollocking if he's not quite at his best. I can't see Keane being of the caring type.

He might be more suited at a place like this.

He's got a bit of pedigree at this level, if he's one of the people Keane is talking about and available for £500,000 that would be excellent. As it is though just wild specualtion and no fact behind this player.

Been bombed out by enough other clubs to suggest it's Stead with the problem rather than Keane though.....

What makes you think that Stead is avaliable other than the usual tripe the press come out with regarding Keane falling out with every single player he has ever worked with?

Stead has been involved in every one of our games so far and due to our non-existant midfield he hasn't had the service he needs to be effective.

Unless we get a replacement in before the end of the transfer window Stead won't go anywhere.

Doncaster reckon his wage demands are too high, which makes me think he won't be coming here either!

Well well, don't things move quickly in the football world.

It appears that Stead is going within the next couple of days, he isn't going to Doncaster but a club has secured his services.

It can't be Palace as they want to loan him but we want to sell him, so I have a feeling it could well be Reading.

Decent player, you could do a lot lot worse.

Will he get 15-20 goals this season do you think?

I don't know about our interest, or even if there is any, but I can tell you Swansea want him. Southampton have also shown interest.

Purely for selfish reasons. I've never had a transfer prediction come true before

This would be a positive signing. He will have something to prove. And, with luck, will consign Shane Long to Didcot Town reserves.

We've got Rasiak, there's no need for Stead now. Not that we need a 'done nothing' type in Stead. Been rubbish pretty much everywhere he's been, iirc.

I'd hate to go all 'Snowball' but Stead's scored just 33 goals in the last SIX seasons.

His best spell was his very first with Huddersfield where he scored 22 all in. Hasn't scored over 12 since (12 being last season)

Hardly stellar. Much, much prefer Rasiak who's record is better in every way.
