Doyler's lowest rating of the season

by CMRoyal » 24 Dec 2008 14:33

This must be the first mark relating to Kev this season that's under 8 out of 10:-

Kevin Doyle
Current club: Reading
Possible destination: Everton, Bolton, Fulham, Middlesbrough
Price: £8 million
Likelihood: 5/10

The best striker in the Championship knocking goals in for fun, more than one Premier League side could do with that kind of additional firepower. A bidding war could see the price rise though Villa baulked at the £8m fee in the summer. A freshly signed contract and Reading’s rude health in the Championship means he won’t come cheap.

Stephen Hunt
Current club: Reading
Possible destination: Everton, Sunderland
Price: £5 million
Likelihood: 8/10

A combative, hard working midfielder, Hunt is the scourge of away fans but beloved by his own, Everton manager David Moyes is an admirer. Sunderland were reportedly interested a few months ago, but managerial uncertainty mean Everton may have a free run.

doyle will stay, more likely hunt will go after his comments from the other week, by why would you want to leave Reading in january when you have a good chance of going up with them anyway. If we were much lower in the league table then you would understand why they would want to leave to the premier league. But hunt does have that £5million clause in his contract :(

I wish I could just cut and paste (can't be bothered to find the fifty times this has been posted before ).

SHunt could :

a. Stay with Reading with a POSSIBILITY of promotion, but no guarantee, and then, more than likely a hard season at the wrong to middle end of the PL.
b. Sign for a team in PL division B with a minimum guarantee of six months in the PL and then, in all probability no involvement at the wrong end.

That is why, given that few (if any) of our players are Reading fans, they will take their chance when they get it.

Oh, and by the way, good luck to them, they've given us tremendous service, so they owe us nothing.

Hang on - I've just realised I've turned this from a Doyle thread to a SHunt thread - my apologies.

Shunt>>>>>>Leroy, in terms of talent, at the moment.

I'm surprised that neither of the 2 Wolves strikers are in that list; I can't believe that those teams that are supposedly interested in Doyle wouldn't be just as interested in Iweulmo and Ebanks-Blake.

Its all about having previous prem experience, Doyler and Shunt both had very good spells in the Prem with us and have therefore 'proved' that they can cut it at that level.
