4th season in a row that Liverpool play a promoted side on the first day.

Would love to know how 'random' these fixtures actually are.

Yes and why, for example, you never get ManC v Liverpool or Arsenal v Spurs on the opening day.

Opening day is the first time Tottenham have had a Saturday 3pm kick off since 2019.

Derby to go down

They aren't really random in the slightest.

Every club puts in requests for dates they would rather be home/away, TV companies ask that certain games aren't up too early in the season i.e. why no derbies on opening day - police get a say too, i.e. Liverpool not at home on Grand National weekend. The FA also get a say - so this year there are no games involving the "Big Six" in the last round of games before the WC.

Once all these requests have been put in, the computer program produces a list - this is then checked and can be re-run if needed.

Be nice if an established premier league team went down just to mix it up

Man City, Real Madrid or England would be sweet.

I don't think they're claimed to be random are they?

There's various things they need to consider such as not putting two teams in the same police district at home on the same day, or avoiding clashing with other big events going on.

The 22/23 season officially starts tonight as the Champions League kicks off in Reykjavik.

Icelandic Champions Vikingur Reykjavik play Estonian side FCI Levadia but prior to that San Marino's champions La Fiorita face Andorran side Inter Club d'Escaldes.

Winners progress to the preliminary stage final on Friday for the right to get stuffed by Malmo in the first qualifying round in early July.

Judging by his body shape, did he put it over? Looks like he's about to scoop it.

Still think the worst miss I have ever seen was Torres' at Old Trafford for Chelsea.

Steve Stone's miss at Elm Park was pretty special.

Hope he's a massive flop. The comparisons to Haaland have been embarrassing.
