YateleyRoyal My point is that you should only be stretchered off if you are in so much pain that you cant walk. If you are in that much pain, you wouldnt be making gestures. If you are able to make gestures, you cant be in that much pain, and should walk off the pitch.

No.

I just think things like that further enhance footballer's reputations of being wimps. In the pictures, Walcott looks a bit like a prima donna, sitting on his stretcher being carried off whilst gesturing to other people. Just wouldnt happen in other sports.

Not really - the physio may have advised him to not put any pressure on his knee to avoid damage - so they use the stretcher rather than him hobble 70 yards to the tunnel.

With injuries, unless it's a break, the only pain you tend to get is from first of all the impact, and then secondly any movement/weight on it.* Being able to sit up on a stretcher and smile doesn't mean he is faking the injury, could just suggest that he is unable to put weight on it.



*Obviously this isn't always the case
