Brad Jones has gone back to Oz as his four year old son has cancer.

Looks like Federici will definitely be the no.2 now.

After trying an acrobtic shot in training. This + Robben doing his hamstring poncing about doing backheels = Big Lolz at showponies.

The same show-ponies that can potentially light up a tournament? I'm not sure if you'd agree with me, but I'd much rather a shabby, no frills player got injured than those with genuine creative ability.

Thaumagurist* I don't understand that attitude. Surely you'd prefer none got injured?

Of course (unless it was Emile Heskey), but I don't agree with laughing at those trying to be creative and bringing pieces of individual skill to a game.

Gotta love the stereotypically English suspicion of anyone trying to inject a bit of joy into things as 'showing off'.

Yes, I much rather watch them in a tournament its just that well, we're not going to be watching Nani now are we and given Robben's normal recovery times maybe not him. There's a time and a place for showing off and I'll suggest its not in the week before the world cup when all you've got to do is try and stay fit.

I do agree with this to a certain degree; players need to be sensible and just go through the motions ensuring they do no damage to themselves ahead of a major tournament. However, those with natural flair like Robben can be excused for attempting a piece of skill in my opinion because that's the way he ordinarily plays the game. Plus it's a freak injury, I mean who tears their hammy trying to perform a backheel? Unfortunately for him he's just destined to be plagued by injury.

And in Nani's defence, do you expect these players to just be able to go onto a pitch and pull something magical out of the bag without prior practise? An acrobatic volley obviously isn't part of a routine training session but these players must develop the skills that set them apart from your typical player one way or another. Again, it's just unfortunate in my eyes.

Listened to some French journalist on the radio earlier explaining France's current problems.

LOL @:

Senior players demanding a meeting with the manager to say they want Henry starting tomorrow (he is expected not to)

Anelka & Ribery refusing to pass to Gourcuff if he plays

Gallas saying he won't speak to Evra because he was made captain

The whole squad refusing to talk to Gallas

Gallas putting out a statement saying he will not any more interviews to the press until the start of next season, then getting a b***ocking for it by the French FA

Florent Malouda criticising the rest of the squad in an interview saying they only want to look good to the press and don't care about the team

The journalist said that there is no world cup fever in France, said you wouldn't even be aware a world cup was about to take place, the public are so dissolusioned with the team they are no longer interested. Wenger also spoke to the press criticising the french public's attitude to the world cup saying how good it was in England.
