Impressed with Glen Johnson so far, nice to see a full back who is comfortable on the ball and can put in a decent cross.

Jimmy Greaves
"Who are we playing today?"

"I reckon we (the non playing squad members from 1966 final) could beat 'em"

" I have never seen such a bad side in all my life"

"I can't believe that 60,000 people have had the courage to come"

And  Gabriel Clarke at trying to stop him being so honest.

Gotta admit Gerrard has been poor 2nd half - haven't even heard his name

Another assist for Johnson. MOM

Victor Meldrew Just been watching the cricket and only now remembered that England are about to play.
Not having missed watching any England game since 1963 I won't spoil the record but I don't have much interest in the game.
BTW if Gary Neville plays what is the point?
Next year for the finals he will be an injury-prone35 year-old so why play him tonight?
With Andorra having no forwards we could easily go with three at the back and so he wouldn't be needed or the alternative could have been SWP at right-back where he has played for City before and would provide the extra attacking option in a game that will be just one-way traffic.

Correction:-the papers said that Neville would play because Johnson was on a yellow card but Johnson did play and was our most creative attacking player.
It was still a great big yawn and no opposition will be as poor as Kazakstan and Andorra at the finals and as Pleat rightly said we didn't even need a keeper tonight.
Still we are almost there now which at least means some added interest next summer.
BTW did Tyldesley and Pleat both climax during the commentary when talking about goldenballs?

Good display, but lets face it. Not a challenge, no defending required and able to play with 8 attackers.

Plenty of signs that the team would have struggled against a team of any sort of quality. But hey, you beat what's put in front of you.

I don't think we would have struggled as we would have raised our game against tougher opposition as shown against Germany, Croatia, Ukraine etc recently.

It's a balance certainly. We'd have had to defend more and try harder, but there would have been more space to attack into and possibility of counter attacks.

First half we may have been alright. Second half we'd have really struggled against anyone half decent. Young was poor, Defoe was mediocre. Crouch was anonymous all game. Only Glen Johnson really looked quality tonight IMO.

The scorers simply wouldn't have got such easy chances against a good team.

I don't think you can take any guide from a 2nd half performance against minnows when already 3-0 up, foot was well and truly off the gas.

It was a good game and worth going. England just spent the whole time attacking and the only excitement was wandering if a Mexican wave would get going. Cheering madly when Green touched the ball and screaming for Beckham to shoot everytime was a good laugh.

Johnson was very good, Beckham was the real man-of-the-match while Crouch and Cole were strangely disappointing. The second goal showed we were trying to play football in the same way as we will have to to beat better teams and the Andorrans seemed satisfied with 6-0 and a trip to Wembley.

I loved the fact that he was basically saying exactly what ITV had been saying the whole game, only in a more doddery old idiot style and ITV seemed somehow embarassed about it.

What an utterly tedious 90 minutes though, nothing learnt at all apart from that the Andorran FA don't seem to appreciate that the hordes at Wembley aren't actually coming because it's one of your players' final apparance!

Other good comedy was when PLOLeat mentioned the press packs of Endor and what they'd make of the tactics

Finally Vic, we all know you don't like Beckham but if you were listening you'd have heard PLOLeat suggesting that next year would be a world cup too far for him, which is of course utter nonsense and to be expected.
