Ian Royal We've beaten half the top 10!? Not bad considering we're one of the remaining top 10 teams we haven't beaten.

John 3:16 I'm taking it from Football365.

Ah, the site that thinks Stephen Hunt has scored nine goals so far this season.

Fair enough - the top socrers table I found - http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/leadsc.html - didn't go down as far as 2 goals.

(as of 21/10/08)

Recent form:
Birmingham 98.4
Reading 91
Burnley 90.4
Wolves 86 (you've let us down again...)

Season form:
Birmingham 101.8
Wolves 93
Reading 87.6
Burnley 70
Bristol City 70
Cardiff City 70

Possible maximum:
Birmingham 129
Wolves 127
Reading 125
...
Nottingham Forest 108

In the Premier League, Tottenham are still on to smash Derby's record. Recent & season form both stand at 8 !!

MiniRoyal Once again the championship is extremely tight, with at least one team on each individual point from 4th place (19 pts) down to 22nd (11 pts), which explains why teams are still yo-yoing massively.

The top 3 seem to be opening a small gap. If any of them can find some consistency that gap will increase rapidly imho.

As I may have said on team board over the summer, I think consistency is going to be key. There is, imo, no point in having a set of talented players if there's an overall mental weakness and the squad depth is limited in certain players. You might win more weeks than not, but you'll be subject to some pretty abject reverses.

So far, I've been more than pleasantly surprised with Reading (and especially with last night) but there is a certain fragility about the side - the 'toughest' midfielders use a pram and a zimmer frame, for example.

Birmingham are potentially encouraging and worrying at the same time. They appear to be rather mediocre, yet still grinding out results. The question is, will they start being found out and stop getting tose late winners, or will they find their feet and start playing well kicking on.

Wolves seem to be strugling since losing the two wingers (i presume they're still out) They're showing quite a lot of fragility after such a good start.

Equally though the question for us is which gives way first, our poor away form, or the great home form.

Another 5 - 6 games time will start to show whose early season form is sustainable, whose is failing and whose hasn't peaked yet.

Kightly has been playing for the last couple of games IIRC, and they signed C.Edwards on loan.

Kightly came back for Wolves (and scored) against Coventry.

Their defence seems to be pretty suspect though and I agree with you about everything else...

T.R.O.L.I. Number of points after 20 games:

Reading 05/06: 47
Wolves 08/09: 47

They were ahead of us at the 19 game mark. Got to remember we kept it up all season which is rare for any club to do that. If Wolves do keep it up they will break the record, and fully deserve it.

Wolves have got such a young side, they will go on a really bad runner sooner or later.

Because the matches they lost are no longer "recent" - their "recent" matches are now only wins and this one draw.

No comments on the fact that Wolves are exactly on track to equal our record with 53 points from 23 games?
