La Liga nearly at the the halfway stage, and Almeria stuck on five points, without a victory in their 18 games. The fewest victories recorded in a completed La Liga season is two, most recently by Sporting Gijon in 1997-98. Almeria have now gone 21 league games without a win, closing on Levante's record of 26.

Currently in second spot in La Liga2 are Racing de Ferrol - they have never been in the top tier, and were in the fourth tier as recently as 2018-19.

With Napoli, Roma & Atalanta dropping points, Fiorentina & Bologna have been able to shoot up the table and are now in 4th & 5th

Bologna quite the story this season. Thiago Motta in charge and Lewis Ferguson one of their stand out players, with rumours of bigger clubs sniffing around him

Only 10 caps for Scotland, quite surprising.

Winston Biscuit Getafe Vs Rayo kicks off shortly

Getafe were given a stadium ban for a game due to silly behaviour in 2017 and this is the game...so Getafe have arranged with Atletico Madrid that they will use their stadium for it instead and they have given all season ticket holders access to it

How does that work then? If a club is forced to play behind closed doors, surely it doesn't matter where those doors are closed?

apparently the way the punishment was given was on the basis of 'stadium closure', which was meant to be effectively a stadium ban, but their lawyers told them they can play it anywhere else, so struck a deal with Atletico to use theirs.

no other tickets on sales, just season ticket holders allowed in, but Rayo kicked up a stink as Getafe said no away fans allowed, so they have relented and said they can have 300 fans come along

Ancelotti agrees a new deal at RM to run to 2027

been accepted for ages that he was taking over the Brazilian national team in summer 2024 but, having just listened to a podcast with Sid Lowe talking about this, I understand basically everything is just going better than expected at RM for him, his son and grandchildren have moved in near him and he is enjoying living there, the brazilian national team are going through a pretty bad spell and also RM realised there were no decent replacements available after Xabi Alonso suggested he wasn't so interested in taking over in the summer

Girona beat Atletico 4-3, with a 91st minute winner. They're 2nd to Real on GD, 10 points ahead of Atletico and Barcelona.

Fourth tier Arandina have supposedly sent a list to Real Madrid containing who each Arandina player wants to have the shirt of after the two teams play each other in the copa del rey on Saturday.

Fair play to them to, highly unlikely to play Real ever again and are amateurs at that level I believe. Of course, half of the big names probably won't play.

Haven't followed Portuguese football as closely as I would have liked this season but i was listening to a euro football pod earlier and they said Benfica Midfielder Joao Neves, who was on a €600 a week youth contract until last summer, will likely be the big money transfer out out the country at the end of the season

One for us European Leagues Thread folk to watch!
