I'd give them -2 points which means their first win would count as a draw. Fines don't take away the competitive advantage you'd get from overspending but taking away a win and limiting playing options does.

A fine, partially suspended I believe, plus the reduction in CL squad numbers and the threat / promise of a step up in sanctions for further transgressions is quite sufficient at this stage.

Points deductions and transfer embargoes can come later if necessary.

Ian Royal
Royal Rother Man City accept their £49m fine and reduction of CL squad from 25 to 21 next year.

FFP makes it first mark on the PL.

One in the eye for the cynics.

I believe wage budget can't go up and a limit on transfer spending. Still got to meet the normal homegrown reqjirements for champ league squad too i presume.

Pretty strong penalties.

Essentially it's a E60 million fine OR a E20 million fine + wage budget freeze + limit on transfer spending.

http://newsthump.com/2014/05/07/man-cit ... dium-sofa/

The billionaire owners of Manchester City have raised the £50m needed for their UEFA fine after a quick rummage down the back of their sofa.

The fine comes after they breached financial fair play rules, by exploiting their massive wealth to gain a competitive advantage in domestic and european competition.

However club officials have said that they will pay the UEFA fine for exploiting their massive wealth by exploiting their massive wealth.

A spokesperson for the club explained, “£50m doesn’t buy you much these days – it’s barely two Marouane Fellainis – so raising that amount of money isn’t an issue.”

“Our Chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, sent a suit to the dry cleaners with £11m in the pocket just last week, and this morning we found another £35m that had fallen down the back of the sofa in the boardroom.”

“The players dropped the remaining four million in the changing rooms before training this morning, so we’re all set.”

“Do you think UEFA would prefer a jar of coins, or a cheque?”

Fully expect to see Hereford in the Southern LEague (or equivalent) as a result of this. The Conference are proper hard ball on financial basket cases.

Well that'll reprieve Chester then who only went down by being 2 goals worse off than Hereford.

Does anyone know if the fines levied on City and PSG come off their bottom line for next season's FFP calculation?

Actually surprised how little interest SSN has taken of this mess, considering it's out in the public SJM is no longer in charge, and a lender is; and we have an administrator trying to prevent us going into admin.

Probably shows things are not quite as desperate as you would like them to be.

BBC South tends now to refer to us as a "financially troubled" (or something similar) club whenever we are mentioned.
