Of course yer average rugby league or rugby player would still say that football's a "poof's game".
But then they've barely got any brain cells left.

Because we're the sport that sends death threats, has segregation and violence and anti-racism/homophobia campaigns.....

I hope Shawcross sues Wenger. Disgraceful comments and he can't be allowed to get away with. The ref needs to take a long hard look at himself too. He implied the blame 1st by sending Ryan off.

Shawcross is one of the softest people you could ever meet and I hope, that the biggest week of his carerer does not get ruined by this freak accident.

Not normally a Wnger basher, but he really is out of order, again. The Taylor challenge was much worse than this and even then Wenger was still out of order, saying he should be banned for life.

Unusually for me I have seen this tackle on the telly and I reckon the outcome is a result of Pulis` attitude to football. Shawcross`s challenge was not malicious but reckless in that he had no idea whether he would take man or ball.
A player is not going to pull out of a challenge like that if he has a manager who will bollock him for it. Pulis` methods and ideas on the game are an affront to football.

I think Shawcross didn't mean it, it's a shame for him and of course Ramsey.

I agree with NJ that Pulis plays anti-football. Cnut.

Anti Football?

Fcuk off.

Done exactly what he needs to do. His job is to establish Stoke in the Premiership and 2nd season of mid table security is a fantatsic achievement.

Shawcross tackle was not dangerous, it was a tackle and the fact he got injured was a total freak. Even the ref said to players/staff after the game that it wasn't a foul and he sent him off becuase of the injury.

I know I shouldn't have bitten.....

To say that Shawcross is late is rubbish, he's just won the ball and is then going to clear it when Ramsey comes in and nicks it away. It all happened so quick there is nothing Shawcross could have done to prevent it apart from not going for the ball which would have people questioning his desire.

Unfortunate accident, and I hope Ramsey makes a full recovery.

This is a mess.
Sympathy to Ramsey, but :
If the ref has, indeed, said that he sent Shawcross off for the consequence and not because it's a foul, then Stoke's appeal against the red card will HAVE to be upheld. Can't wait to see Arse Whinger's reaction to that.

To be fair to the ref I can understand his thinking.

If the replays looked bad and he hadnt sent him off I think there would have been more aproar. In fact you'd have Wenger calling for him to be banned for life.

The feeling at Stoke is that Shawcross needs protecting, that they mean just letting this lie. The refs report will be interesting.

I actually think Pulis did well last night. Came across very well after Wenger made himself, yet again, look an utter oxf*rd.

Shawcross's foot tackled over the ball but that was due to Ramsay being too quick and poking it away. Feel sorry for Shawcross as i don't think it was on purpose. Just tackling like a typical tough Stoke team do to be honest.

and what I would call "good old fashioned tackling".

Used to see it virtually every Sunday in the non-league circuits...........as horrendous as the results "once every hundred thousand times" are.......it is part of the game.

The only descernible difference is, that the Sunday League player has to wallow on the cold wet mud for an hour waiting for the ambulance whilst his untrained mates run around trying to find that magic sponge.

Unfortunate for the young Welsh international.....but he will be ok

Er the tackle was late which is why he caught the player. Your comment is feeble although I repeat I don't think in any way Shawcross went out to intentionally hurt the player.

I think the point he was making was that some challenges people go into late, knowing that the other player is going to beat them to the ball, whereas here, Shawcross may or may not have even seen Ramsey coming in to nick it away, so he wasn't going in 'late' in his mind in the sense that he thought the ball was there for him to clear away and that was that - he wasn't trying to beat anyone in particular to the ball, he just went straight for it after he'd won it the first time round.

But obviously Ramsey did get their first and so that makes it a late challenge (so i'm not disagreeing with you, just don't think ZacN's comment was as stupid as you say)
