The Goat was fed Furthermore, a few of you really need to wise up re: Adkins media relations. Admittedly it's my line of work, but his media performance last night followed was Crisis PR interview 101. Yes you apologise, creating a sense of accountability and then you deflect (with Kebe chat in this case) thus making people forget your accountability.

If you were really as much of a PR guru as you are trying to make out you wouldn't be flaunting your agenda so readily.

Not my agenda, so readily flaunting. Slowly but surely, I will bring PR down from the inside.

To me the guy seems to get 'injured' and 'fit' when it suits him. .

this is the problem you see.since you really have no oxf*rd clue what youre on about, you should probably ignore thos thoughts as they conga through your head, and not just blurt them out willy nilly.

Lower West
Cypry I find it unbelievable that some people think that a player who has just regained fitness, and hasn't played a competitive game in six months should be a shoe in for a starter, or even on the bench as soon as he declares himself recovered. Ever heard of match fitness?

Kebe was told last Friday that he was playing last night. Kebe declared himself unfit on Monday by making a phone call.

I was referring to those who can't seem to believe that he didn't feature in Blackpool...

The Goat was fed There is an awful lot of crap being talked here today, but the "Jimmy Kebe" gets injured on cue chat has to be up there with some of the biggest load of bollocks I've ever heard.

Kebe wound up West Ham for fun. Then, in what was our biggest (promotion-wise) match of the season, he played his best ever Reading performance at Upton Park. Not only was he getting over the top the tackles all game, he put up with some racist abuse and defended like a trojan. In fact, that was sometimes my favourite thing about Jimmy. There were times, especially when playing with Cummings, he was our best Right-Back as well as best Right-Winger! He's never let the club down on the pitch and has had plenty of opportunity to leave when he was pulling up trees in the Championship. This is bad management.

Furthermore, a few of you really need to wise up re: Adkins media relations. Admittedly it's my line of work, but his media performance last night followed was Crisis PR interview 101. So Dellor was acting as Adkins' stooge by asking the question about Kebe's absence? I very much doubt it since Dellor clearly has little time for the new manager at present. I very much doubt Adkins was waiting in the hope that Dellor would ask, so if it was as you say, why didn't he highlight the Kebe issue himself? - he had shown no sign till then of doing so.

As for letting the club down on the pitch, he has put in some pretty poor performances on occasions and often failed to play anywhere near to his full potential (the Swansea playoff final was far from his finest hour). His injury record and extremely slow healing process has meant that he has also let the club down by not being on the pitch enough!

On the first point, it's not Dellor being a stooge - it's him asking a question that had to be asked. It was being reported by all sources that Kebe was going to be playing, so inevitable that Dellor would ask about his absence and Adkins would have been prepared for it. Adkins would have been keen to talk about anything other than the result last night - but WOULD NOT have brought up Kebe on his own accord, as that looks like you're actively seeking an excuse.

On the second point, I've never felt that Jimmy Kebe didn't give it his all. There's been times when he's not had a good game (as with all players), but even then he's provided moments of magic. He's also the victim of his own success in some parts. I'm obviously a fan and have been annoyed at him when he failed to beat his man EVERY SINGLE TIME, but a lack of effort is not fair. He's a confidence player - McDermott installed that.

It's also very unfair to say he's let the club down being injured. If there was any implication that he was not eating well etc. I'd agree with that, but he's always had a good training reputation. Some players are just more injury prone and we're unfortunate that Jimmy is one of those players as I reckon we might have had a sniff of staying up last year if he'd given us a full season.

I'd just like to add that there is a world of difference between the Guthrie situation and the Kebe situation

Guthrie - clearly our best midfielder by a mile, was absolutely fit and left languishing on the bench watching poorer players put in poor performances in a losing team whilst being either ignored or asked to play in a way that didn't suit him. He honestly said his head wasn't in the right place when he refused to travel and then apologised and knuckled under. He has since been one of our better players.

Kebe - marginally our second best winger coming back from injury, who has to earn his right to start. He complains about being fit and not being picked, when he's been told he's not being risked on a long trip up North and will be playing Tuesday. He then pulls a sickie on Monday.

Basically. oxf*rd off Kebe.

Top post. Sums up my feelings on the interview nicely.
It was like a cringeworthy scene from The Apprentice (tv show) Boardroom: One minute the Team Captain is contrite, accepting full responsibility for the team's failure but promising to do better next time. The next minute he's ranting and raving to Lord Sugar (in this case Dellor) about why the bloke on the left should be fired and how it's all their fault.

It's clear that these other folk doubting the kebe aren't,they are just very silly.
The man is truly a god among men, and the doubters will burn in kebe hell

The PR angle is intriguing.

Kebe was on the 'phone to BBCRB after the Blackpool game saying he was fit to play whenever required, and according to Adkins, after having trained at Hogwood that morning in the knowledge he was starting against Peterborough.

Then on Monday morning he pulls a sickie.

All day Monday/Tuesday the media are allowed to run with "Jimmy back against Peterborough" with no correction from the club.

Absolute cert that Adkins was going to get quizzed about the no-show regardless of the result. No way Adkins wasn't fully aware of the story he was creating.

Then today, "media shy" Kebe is back in the press linked with moves back to the Prem and denying he's refused to turn out for us.

Machinations are afoot...

Well believe me or not, but I saw Jimmy today. He was in Beale Park with his missus and kid. I asked him what was going on and he said he was fully committed to getting back in the team.
