No Fixed Abode So, it's gone from 'you'll never win the European Cup' to 'Enjoy your one season in the sun.'

Can't wait for the next instalment.

It's all back downhill for your lot-not much to look forward to with such little genuine support and of course plastic melts and there's plenty of plastic at the Bridge.

It's getting desperate for you in your replies. Next you will be saying Roman is going to walk as he'll be getting fed up with spending all that money and not winning the Champions League. Oh wait there.......

Of course he won't walk. He is a modern day Stalin exept with money not guns. He would crush any uprising that would threaten his empire. Even those Chelsea pitch owners will be crushed. Resistance is futile.

No Fixed Abode I'll always support Roman over a manager tbf. Look at Chelsea's record since Roman took over - trophy haul only bettered by United

Trophies over class?

Why doesn't he just cut out the awkward middleman and do without a manager? He could manage the team himself, which is what he really appears to want to do.

You couldn't blame him and the rest of us would just love it with Ken Bates going back and buying the club for a £1.
With most other clubs the fan base would help the club and it's finances but all those post-Roman newbies would be gone in a flash as soon as Chelsea HAD to sell a player to one of the bigger clubs,of which there are many.

Didn't we used to get crowds of 50,000/60,000?

Why have you suddenly started repeating this over and over just this week?

Reading got over 30k at Elm Park, so what's your point?

Used to being the operative words. But then again there are 18 other clubs in the top three divisions who boost a highest attendance exceeding 60k so I'm not sure what the point is?

Not my research but taken from another site Chelsea 1991-92 (Division One)

7,148 v Southampton 12/2/92

Not a typo apparently.... At the time Chelsea were 7th in Division One
(NB: this was before the Premier League). Presumably the Chelsea flower
show was on.... Or perhaps David Mellor and his celebrity chums were still
at Craven cottage deciding which team could inflate their egos the furthest.

Starfish Simple question, and excuse my ignorance of English football and all of that, but how would Reading fans react if Brian was suddenly sacked and Neil Warnock was given the job to keep the club up?

I find Colin a bit contemptible, but also quite entertaining and hard to take seriously. I'd be peeved and not positive about it. But I probably wouldn't take it as far as boycotting the club like I would if that dirty toss pot Redknapp got the job.

He wouldn't have a fall guy when it goes wrong. Can't sack himself.

In the early years of the Premier League, average attendance not much different from what we are achieving now.

All this attendance malarkey reminds me, average top division in Brazil is something like 15,000 yet Santa Cruz in the 3rd division average 40,000 and get up to 60,000. I don't think they are even historically a good team, were in the 4th div a couple of years ago (and had a 59,000 crowd there). Just the only team for miles around if I remember right.

They were never a ''big' team, in the sense of having much support outside of West London and this only really started to change when Hoddle took over and they started getting a bit of success in the era of football being fashionable. Obviously since Abramovich bought the club they've increased their fanbase considerably, but most of their fans who've supported them for years, would't necessarily see this as a good thing.
