Love the fact that any buyer has to dish £20m to Gaydamak and Chanrai before they can do anything else, bcause that sounds like a cracking investment

I think they might really be fcuked this time.

Doubt they'll exist by the end of February.

I hope so. It was a travesty they survived last time. I'd like to feel sorry for the fans, but I've always thought they were cocks anyway. At least they can start a new club. If they're as big as they think they are they'll rocket back up the non-league pyramid and into League Two.

What is to stop the like of West Ham buying a Pompey player for a couple of million to allow them to pay their tax bill?

It would cost West Ham 2 million but potentially save them 6 points and give them the windfall of the premiership.

Which superstar were you thinking of? Pompey at the moment are, well, pretty average (or thereabouts)

If it saves West Ham the 6 points that they have already taken from Portsmouth this season, the Mascot is probably worth £2 million.

Just wondered if there would be anything in place to stop that happening. The league table would start to look very different if Portsmouths results were invalid.

A little bit. Assuming I've got it right:

1)Saints / 26 / +20 / 49
2)W'Ham/ 25 / +17 / 47
3)Cardiff/ 25 / +14 / 45
4)M'boro / 25 / +3 / 44
5)B'ham / 26 / +16 / 43
6)B'pool / 26 / + 9 / 42
7)R'ding / 26 / + 8 / 42
8]Hull / 25 / + 2 / 42
9)Burnley/ 26 / + 7 / 40
10)Leeds / 26 / +4 / 39
11)Brighton / 26 / +0 / 38
12)Derby / 26 / - 4 / 38
13)Leics / 25 / + 6 / 36

Not much shifting around but a fair bit of bunching!

The irony of that is it helps Saints! Who in there right mind would buy Pompey? They have a shit ground which they don't own. No training ground. Last year of parachute payments. Average home gates of 14,000. No executive boxes or corperate facilaties. Any potential buyer would need to spend 500 million before they could even think about buying players. I wonder where the alledged 200,000 people who saw them bring the cup back will be when they are in Blue Square south.

Pearce and Ward are very highly rated. There's rumours of Pearce going for around 800k and Ward more.

Could well be that any money they get for Pearce a large chunk would have to go to Bournemouth.

Not sure Ipswich have a pot of money for the bids to be that high.

Had the pleasure of seeing Pompey fans interviewed outside Fratton on SSN last night, they really don't think their club has done anything wrong do they? Maybe they feel less affronted by this than people who tax do?

Anyway one of them came up with the hilarious option of blaming the FA and the league for their woes "I'm not saying they killed Pompey, but they certainly drove the getaway car" Errrr, didn't they effectively let you off as you're still going and able to dodge taxes?

LOL. The best thing about that quote was it was obvious the bloke had thought about it for days, was so pleased with himself as he was saying it then as soon as he'd finished saying it he realised it was complete bollocks.

Tbf it was a fair mix of fans reactions. The Blame brigade, The fatalists, The Die-hard we'll support the club whatever division its in and The someone will bail us out they always do faction.

Aren't you embarrassed by Reading fans (or any fans) being interviewed for TV?.
They are usually fat people with few teeth who also work at the market and probably never go to football.
I cringe when I read some of the "holier than thou" comments about other clubs.
We got lucky 20 years ago otherwise we might well have ended up in the same boat as a lot of these other clubs and yet people regularly come on here deriding fans of other clubs who are actually the same as them,i.e.mugs like all of us paying through the nose to watch an overhyped product but do so from the sense of belonging or whatever it is that keeps us supporting our clubs.
I wouldn't want any club to go out of business for the fans' sake-it's not they that ever do anything wrong,it's the greedy egotistical owners that f*** things up.

Come the revolution the fans will run things and players will be paid the national average wage-no.it won't happen but everybody might then be involved for the love of the game rather than now with players being paid far too much and nearly all of the owners seeing their clubs either as property companies or retail outfits.

The Sicilian/American "businessman" and underwater hotel entrpreneur Joseph Cala is BACK in negotiations with Pompey; which presumably puts the Pompey administrator in a bit of an embarassing situation given the things he said about the guy earlier this week!

(Actually, he looks the sort of bloke who would never be embarassed by anything.....)

Underwater Hotel - tell me how does that work exactly? Or is it exclusively for use of marine life?
