Finished 1-1. Great game and a big crowd. Sure y'all will still find something to moan about though.

Pachuca v Salzburg next. Premier League legend Salomon Rondon leading the line for Pachuca, with Kenedy out wide.

Can’t moan about something I didn’t watch.

Can moan about the thing itself though.

Glad you enjoyed the game.

Sutekh And no doubt next summer they’ll be giving World Cup tickets away as still no-one in the US gives a toss.

Not sure that's the case at all, they just don't give a toss about glorified friendlies on Monday lunchtime

They may have an issue when they try to charge an actual arm and a leg for the tickets of course

I'm really looking forward to Wydad vs Al Ain next Thursday although Salzburg vs Hilal on Sunday is also piquing my interest.

I know you're taking the piss, but Al Hilal are genuinely worth a watch.

A couple of upsets tonight.

Messi gets the winner as Miami beat Porto 2-1. And Botafogo beat PSG 1-0, meaning South American teams are still undefeated.

Nothing against the teams but this a tournament that FIFA has revamped about 3 times over the past 25 years because everybody outside the teams involved is totally apathetic. It's a turd of a tournament, borne out by the fact they're flogging tickets for less than $10 and still can't sell out stadia, and no amount of polishing will make it not a turd. Pitting a bunch of part timers against Bayern Munich serves the tournament absolutely zero credit.

It's a joke of a tournament, they can't sell tickets even when it's held in an apparently sports mad country and FIFA has sold itself to the Saudis.

I'm enjoying it, so don't really care about any of that. First time I've seen the Argentinian and Brazilian teams, and even the Saudi teams, so has been fun to see them playing against some "proper" teams. Even if it's just glorified friendlies it fills a football sized hole over the summer, so for people who just want to watch some football it's doing a good job.

South Americans take it seriously (like Scotland are always up for England games), Europeans don’t really care very much as they get more than enough spondoolicks from their deals in UEFA and a Club World Cup isn’t (and possibly never will be) a thing.

FIFA wants to push it to try and rival the money UEFA make out of their competitions, and balances everything off through various sponsorships, favours and broadcasting rights to make its money that way.
