Didn't Ince turn down a move to the PL last summer?

Is the kid scared of making the step up?

I'm not sure what to think about Ince.

On the one hand I think it's refreshing that he's been willing to not make the jump too early. Having been at Liverpool already and struggled to make an impact and also seeing lots of players like Sinclair, SWP, Zaha, Parker, Sidwell etc give up playing for a pay cheque and a chance to stake an unrealistic claim for a game at a big club, perhaps he and his old man have decided it's better to be playing now than chasing the big move. I tend to agree with that.

On the other hand, it might be that he over rates himself and his worth and he doesn't think the deals he's been offered are big enough or with big enough clubs to make the move. Was he holding out for a Liverpool or a City instead of moving to a Fulham, Newcastle or Villa (made up interest) last summer.

I like the look of him as a player, and like a lot of the young English talent emerging, it's important they plot their career carefully to maintain their progress.

On a simialr note, I hope Shaw's proposed move to United doesn't stunt his development as we've seen with players before.

Interesting insight into how Belgium have managed to bring through such a talented generation of players.

I will find and dig out the German article I read. It's all to do with the system. This one is a superb read.

So, the next generation aren't looking like world beaters yet are they?

Some promise from Henderson, Shaw, Sterling, Sturridge and Lallana over the failed World Cup campaign and what must be a bright future for Barkley.

This time last year Hoop Blah Not sure on the real youngsters but the next season could be big ones for the likes of Raheem Sterling, Nick Powell, Connor Wickham, Thomas Ince (depending where he goes), Luke Shaw, Will Hughes, Ross Barkley and Chalbolah.

A bits be said about the lack of English talent in the Premier League, but I think the standard of the Championship isn't far off what a lot of the young talent we had 15/20 years ago were playing at in the top flight so not sure it's a massive problem really.

Still a lot of progression for some of them, and I would love for Connor Wickham to start the upcoming season as he ended the last for Sunderland. We're crying out for a central midfielder to either sit, hold and dictate for England (to replace Gerrard), with Wilshire one option but very little else. Ward-Prowse kicked on well last year and is certainly one to watch but I can't think of many other young English midfielders who might fit the bill. There's certainly none with experience to bridge the gap unless we go back to Carrick or Milner if Gerrard and Lampard call it a day.

We've got Butland, Berahino, Wisdom, Flanaghan and Stones who should be looking for big seasons too as Hodgson looks to rebuild for the 2016 Euros.

It'll also be interesting to see what van Gaal does with the likes of Jones, Smalling and even the young lad who scored a couple at the end of the season Wilson (right name??). They've gone backwards if anything (Jones and Smalling that is) but still have a lot of potential but might need to go somewhere else to develop. Similar story for Rodwell if he can ever get himself fit.

Any other youngsters to watch out for and to give us a glimmer of hope for this season?

Wisdom was excellent for Derby last season - given Glen Johnson is almost permanently shit these days, it would be good to see Rodgers give Wisdom a chance next season like he gave Flanagan.

PaddyPower has Rooney as 1/3 favourite with Cahill 4/1 and Hart 13/2. Jagielka is next at 25/1.

Who was the last keeper to captain England?

I read over the weekend that Ince has turned down a move to Inter already this summer.

I don't think he had a great season last year but it's interesting to see that our much derided young talent is (apparently) being recognised by over countries clubs.

Not sure where he thinks he's going to end up but he obviously doesn't think moving abroad is going to help him for some reason (£££ I assume).

Plus the fact they're massive racists in Italy

Evra's going to enjoy his time in Juve then

Slightly lacking in ability when compared to your modern day midfield technical wizards but absolutely excelled at the basics which sometimes got him through to claim a trophy and sometimes had him falling short

Interesting research that goes some way to disproving the idea that the number of foreign players in the Premier League has a negative impact on the England team.
