Horrible journey up the M1, pokey away cage we get stuck in, another hopelessly awful away performance flattering to deceive. IN.

50mph limits basically the whole way up and the away end is pretty pokey

Ah, last time I drove up I went up about 8 hours early as I was staying overnight so just took it easy all the way up. Also don't remember the away end concourse that much - too pished :)

Where you staying?

I looked at Travelodge last week which was £133 total for two nights - that's where I stayed last time

Went on to book it today and it's now at £190.

I am staying at the Crown Plaza which is by the Opera House but that's only because I got it free with points I have built up through work. All the "Budget" hotels in the City Centre were either full or really expensive. There must be something going on in Nottingham that weekend.
My 2 Uni mates got into Premier Inn Nottingham West. It's not in the Centre but on the Tram line apparently. Might be worth a try.

Thanks for the advice, I also found a lot of the hotels quite expensive.

Hilton - £220
Premier Inn - £200
etc...

B&Bs were not in the centre.

We're going shopping Friday and Saturday morning, as well as going out for dinner and so we wanted to be in the centre.

In the end I had to suck it up and booked the Travelodge for £188 for two nights

Anywhere decent for a cheap pint and food for this one? Driving in so something near the ground would be ideal!

Last year I went to - Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Brewhouse Yard, Nottingham NG1 6AD - not far from the ground, but far enough that it's not rammed. Full of character. I didn't have food, but I'm aware they do offer it.

It claims to be one of the oldest, and inside it's just full of character, parts of it like a cave, lots of nooks and crannies.

Will be visiting again - see you there gr8 m8

Probably gonna go to this one on the basis that I hate Nottingham Forest and will enjoy seeing us beat them + Mills.

Oh and they do brandy minatures at the bar that you can bring back to your seat undetected. Chin chin!

Only been to the City Ground once and it so happened to be one of my best away experiences, was living in Derby at the time so it was an easy journey and we ended up winning 4-3 with the lead swapping hands several times.
