Brogue

Blue socks and shorts looks awful with it

I take it that it was the last thing Dai signed off on before selling?

Had to be solid blue shorts and socks otherwise would have over-egged the pattern

I actually much prefer it when I see it alongside the shorts and socks than when I first saw it

Scutterbucketz I’d be up for changing our nickname back to The Biscuitmen.

The Royal family haven’t exactly covered themselves in glory of late. Time to distance ourselves from them before one of them bangs a child and then buys them off again.

Really like it - was prepared for something much worse.

Although would say it would be much better with white shorts and white socks.

Think it needs the contrast with the strong blue, would have looked washed out if it was white socks and shorts

Quite possibly - will be interesting to see in real life.

You know when some pr1ck at school gave themselves a nickname? Didn't you hate him? "The Royals" is just marketing.

We always have been and always will be the Biscuitmen.

rabidbee Not one for me (but the 7yo will probably still require all three kits). I reckon, had they had normal bold hoops, but had that pattern as a jacquard weave, it would have looked ace.

II preferred the mock-up with the paisley effect posted up above.

Perhaps next season they'll throw the kit design over to the fans (or AI)?

Man City did that with their third kit and it is retinal GBH

Could have included the pattern on the white flashes on the shorts though, to tie it in a bit.

I definitely don’t hate it. We’ve had way worse kits than this in the 46 years I been watching Reading.
It’s great we now have unique kits even if it divides opinion, way better than some boring template several other teams have too.
Quite like the contrast of the darker blue shorts too although white would have worked quite well

Definitely agree with another comment about fans being involved for a change even if it’s to choose the away kit.
I might write/email Tim Kilpatrick to suggest this for next season as I know they start coming up with ideas for the next seasons kit in September.

It will become an iconic kit in 10 years time, but not convinced the bands are dark enough.

I would have pushed for blue shirt where the white bands were made by a white floral pattern on top of the blue, rather than a blue pattern on top of white.

Doesn't it all just look a bit too white?

Given that all of the launch photos on the OS are only of the new top, I wonder whether they've just put a new top on a mannequin with the old shorts and socks on them, and this isn't the final kit.

The Walthamstow William Morris kits have sold like you wouldnt believe round my neck of the woods, perhaps they are trying to tap into the more fashion conscious hipsters of Reading.

and, in fact, the shorts and the socks have the same pattern on them?

No it is the final kit, the club shop has the 25/26 shorts and socks for sale and they are dark blue

The William Morris shirts are quality.

New Reading shirt is good. I understand the "washed out" comments but I think that's only the case because people are used to a history of shirts with bold hoops. Think of it as a white shirt with some adornments..

I also think you need blue shorts to frame it up otherwise it really would look like a white kit.

Like the fact we are so short of players, we’ve had to draft in Mrs Wing and his kid, as well as a load of randoms for the launch video

Yep - agree. The washed out would only have been if the shorts were white as well, it’s fine with the blue contrast
