Royal Lady As for parking without permission in some of the office car parks in Green Park or Imperial Way, no thanks. The inconvenience and £100+ to be released from a clamp means it's not a risk worth taking. Can pay for an awful lot of match day parking for that amount!

Its worth knowing that clamping on private property is now illegal in the UK, only the council can clamp now i believe!

Ian Royal I don't think they even have any legal right to fine you. If you refuse to pay and don't give them your details I'm not sure they can do a solitary thing about it, only certain debt recovery agencies can get your details from teh DVLA through your licence plate and I'm not sure they'd pass them on to the companies who try and prevent parking on private property. I

may be wrong... I don't really care, I don't have a car.

I think its all pretty complicated, ive had tickets from companies in the past at a mc donalds car park who have got my details from the DVLA and ignored them and they do go away eventually, its an invoice they are giving you not a fine.

I'm not sure you are technically correct Ian. For £5 I could get a registered owners details if I sent a letter through with an official header. I was originally cited the DPA but for a cost this is seemingly wavered.
That might not be applicable now though. Probably £10 now.

based on some consumer show saying what former clamping companies can and can't do, but it was specifically about pay and display car parks where they were instantly trying to force people to pay about £50 when they'd parked and just nipped to a shop to get change for the machine.

Said that they can't get DVLA directly. said only certain approved DCAs can get it and the ones this company used either couldn't get it, or wouldn't pass it over if it they could.

Like I said though, I don't have a car so I wasn't exactly paying close attention.

I read Pistonheads a lot, and they constantly have threads regarding this topic. Clamping is still legal in some circumstances, fines can only be endorsed by the Council. Anything from Parking Eye etc.. which says they will get a court order can be ignored and filed under 'Crap companies try too pull'
