ZacNaloen Signed, even though I couldn't stand comfortably for 90 minutes if I wanted to

All the more reason to move those who want to stand to an areas where they're not in front of you.

Of course, that's no reason at all.

If you don't want folk standing in front of you then you just need to ask the stewards to enforce the ground regulations.

Well, I don't generally have that problem. But you could make that argument if you wanted.

Standing at times of excitement (the times Zac will most want to see) is recognised as inevitable and allowed under ground regulations.

It's "persistent standing" that is against ground regulations.

This doesn't make sence. Surely the time that is most dangerous for standing is at times of excitement. Almost makes you think that the people who decided this rule had shares in a company that would supply the seating for PL/FL clubs.

There's a head-to-head debate between FSF chair Malcolm Clarke and Andy Holt of ACPO on the Guardian site today, with a poll asking if you would like to be able to stand at top-level games again.

the debate over this the last day or so is moronic- all you get is people moaning about hillsborough/heysel, and saying - i remember the days on the terraces getting pushed around in the crush, and terraces are just more dangerous that seats etc
its totally ignorant of how this has moved on.

yes it would be a bad idea to return to terraces. but a stand of safe standing aisles, as in germany presents none of the dangers and safety concerns of old style terracing.
ive heard no argument that stands against the will of the fans.but the disgrace that is teh FA and premiere league of course couldnt give a oxf*rd.

Signed. Feels like I've done this 10 times. Good coverage by the Guardian though. Let's be honest most fans use their seats at half time these days so I don't really care what the Premier League think.

Germany has far more actual terraces than "safe standing" nominally seated areas, and I fail to see why having actual terraces would be a bad idea.

i meant returning to old style terracing.

make the crushes impossible, and terraces arent a problem at all.

Not going to happen though is it? The PL, FA and Football League are all against it and that is enough to ensure that no changes happen.

That just makes things Monera difficult, but certainly not impossible, and thankfully not everyone is so defeatist.
