Maybe the match can be moved to Reading to ensure that everyone can attend... Given the scramble for tickets I expect the next home game to be sold out. Being that the league is far more important than some poxy cup game

Disagreed. I'm daytripping the shit out of this game, but I really can't be arsed with going to the Madstad these days.

Exactly, I fukking h8 going to home games these days, but was looking forward to this.

Wycombe Royal 775 to Liverpool last season, does playing Man City add 5,000 to that?

Nope - but perhaps some of the following do:

6th round vs 3rd round
Weekend vs midweek
Free travel vs no free travel

Don't forget to add dirt cheap tickets, new/different stadium and really big spending opponents to that.

Perhaps the ticket price is a factor but I don't subscribe to the last two.

To anyone defending the ticketing situation, please read this.

I am a student who lives in Manchester, and as a result don't get to go to many matches. I made the journey to Everton last week, on my own, and was rewarded with a brilliant Reading performance. I was almost as happy the next day when i saw City (my second team) beat Villa to set up a quarter final at Eastlands.

However, due to the club not buying enough tickets and offering free travel to home supporters (nearly all of whom DIDN'T travel to Everton), I will either have to buy a ticket for the home end or watch on TV.

Absolutely ridiculous.

RoyalBlue With intelligent contributions to the debate like that, maybe you should go work for the club.

Home attendances already exceed our ticket allocation by a factor > 6 so that's that argument shot down for starters.

Argument shot down? What argument?

it was a statement Given the ticket scramble for what in comparison to the league is not really an important game I expect that there will be a sell out out the next league games.

Have Ipswich had to raise the away allocation ?

Wycombe Royal
RoyalBlue Also it is completely the clubs fault that they took so long getting tickets on sale

And you do know that? How do you know it wasn't Man City causing the delay..........

So let me get this straight. You know nothing about the situation, haven't been following the developments even as confirmed on the official site, and yet you're going to come on this thread and tell people they haven't got anything to complain about?

You're a pr*ck.

Come along Michael, let's not be facetious. I think for many Reading fans, the fact that we've always been so shit in the FA Cup in our lifetimes, this means that when we do progress to the latter stages, it's quite a big deal.

So where is the evidence that RFC DELAYED the sale of tickets? You call me a prick then you provide the evidence that I am wrong........all it says is that they had to confirm the allocation on Wednesday last week, it says nothing about why they didn't go on sale until Monday. My guess would be was because they had to wait for the tickets to physically arrive from Man City so that they could sell them at the ticket office.

And you will also notice that I haven't told anyone they have nothing to complain about. I have stated numerous times that I am not LOLing at the situation. But don't let that stop you getting abusive behind your keyboard.

I must admit as SF says - I thought the demand, given:

- Manchester
- On TV
- Late Sunday

would be 2800-3000 max...

I had to try for 45 mins at midnight last night and it was a shambles from the whole midnight/site capability perspective - but I wouldn't blame the club too much for only getting 2800 tickets...

Allyh84 2,800 allocation with free travel, so unfair on those will fewer members points! And before anyone asks, I've been to 7 away matches this season and about 5 home matches. The free travel thing was a nightmare waiting to happen. As if people wouldn't have just paid the £20 for STAR travel!

Also, at those saying "it's on TV" as an excuse for why we had such a shit allocation. I can't remember missing a match solely because it was on TV. It's completely irrelevant.

they have to draw the line somewhere and as such someone will always just miss out, and with the short notice/confusion due to the late nature of the draw bering finalised etc and wanting the biggest chance of sellinbg them all as quick as possible meant that the large drop between 1600 and 600 was necessary.

as for its on TV being a shit excuse. i think the evidence is conclusive that in general TV games are less well attended.

the only thing the club have missed a trick on was anticipating that our league season will be effectively over so this game and this competition is now our only chance of excitement. this and the free travel means that we have sold out.

Nah the club held on to the tickets to annoy all the keyboard warriors on here...

Royal Lady *sigh*

How many did we take to Man Utd a few years ago?

The bigger the club we're playing, the bigger the following - particularly when it's a quarter final cup game, on a Sunday afternoon, at a top four team.

did we even sell out in the 1/4 final at home to villa last year?

It is one of a NUMBER of factors. The club did however compound the problem by offering free travel.....

just out of interest, could we have taken the bookings in advance and then posted the tickets out when they arrived?

Thus being able to put tickets on sale on Thursday last week.

not sure if there is a law on this, I imagine not as my Mrs spent £200 on take that tickets 6 months before she will get them!

Alright I apologise for that, I've proved your point by not even reading posts in my irritation this morning, and people using words like "pathetic" and "whiny" aren't helping. The delay on the ticket sales was totally poor but may have been unavoidable for RFC's perspective. It's a silly situation to have tickets on sale so late, rendering the points system pretty impotent, and there must be a way for clubs to organise the process better than this.

nope judging by the ammount of Villa fans in the home end..

I would rather the club get an away allocation that they can sell out than losign money by having to pay for 2000 tickets that didnt sell

LOL- just get a ticket in the home end if its that important to you, and since man city are your "2nd team"
.if its not, just watch it on TV and stop moaning.

and what he meant to say was- due to me not having enough points, which is in turn due to me not being a big enough fan, i am unable to get a ticket, i am a disgrace.

oh, and lol at 2nd team. :|

Another factor to take into account is the ridiculous way the FA cup has been scheduled this year. Can anyone think how enjoyable this thread would have been if Man City and Villa had drawn and replayed last night?
