how on earth do you do anything about where your seat is in the block. It just assigns one to me with no say over whereabouts it is

You don't! That's the way it works. If people were allowed to select a seat they'd end up with lots of single seats.

Lurking Sorted! Top of Y19. :D

How the feck did you get that? After unsuccessfully trying to get on it, I went back on around 11.30 and tried to find the highest possible seat, managed to find Y row but discarded it in favour of trying to find a higher one and when I came back to the Y row it was gone! Had to settle for T row.

What's wrong with row T?

Too low down. I prefer somewhere higher than row AA.

You don't. What I did was cancel the ticket and start again by selecting a different block to see what row I would get. A laborious process.

serves you right for being picky then. A seat is a seat in our stadium. the main difference to the view is end, side end or side middle surely.

zac naloen Because making a system that works like that is oxf*rd expensive.

Simple as.

I managed to get a ticket last night, but it wasn't easy. The web server seemed to have crashed out for about 20 straight minutes immediately after 8 o'clock.

That could easily have been avoided with a better banding system to reduce the immediate load.

My dad sent them an email suggesting just this 2 days ago, their response? No time... O_o

They have atleast until sunday to do a stepped process for non-season ticket holders. Printed tickets will only take a day to be recieved with first class/recorded delivery.. and most people will have member cards anyway.

For the Man U match alone, the web part of the system will be dealing with up to 2500 x 30 = £75,000 of tickets. And the company that produces the ticketing software runs systems for many other clubs. With that much money going through the service surely you can you can make a lot of usability improvements before expense is an issue?

For example, the stadium plan page could be improved to show which blocks have tickets available by a simple bit of Javascript programming - I'd have a go myself to show how easy it is if there weren't copyright issues - adding a rollover for "There are tickets available for this stand and area" would be a start.

Server load? Well that could be a difficult and potentially expensive one to sort out, but IMO if there was a will there would be a way. Also, it doesn't help the load issue when you have to take extra steps to get round the deficiencies in the service - I had to complete 2 credit card transactions to get tickets ast night, as well as a making a number of unnecessary, additional searches as I thought I'd made a mistake because the system doesn't always let you know what it's doing.

I can't help but feel that if many other e-commerce systems experienced the same problems as this one the client would make sure something was done about it. Perhaps the difference is that on those, customers will not spend an hour or more to make a simple purchase, more likely they will turn to a competitor - not a choice we have.

Is there a way of making improvement suggestions for the ticketing service - it must be worth trying?

He has returned saying the queue is not so bad but they only have single tickets left - which is no good when he (or anyone else) wants to take his/their kid.

I've just got back from the Ticket office. I was expecting to que but was totally shocked to find it completly empty. Not a single person being served or waiting.
They were only single seats available but managed to get my girlfriend a seat directly in front of my season ticket seat. Sweet.

Great system, wasn't it 41 points till 6pm today. At 9 am I got 5 tickets on my kids and friends kids cards with less than that as they were selling at 5 points. Before you shout glory hunter as they have less than 41 points they are under 5 or were last year and used to go in free but now we pay for them, were unable to get an extra 2 ST for them as they had no points etc at the start of the season and now it has been made harder for them to come to a game.
