Riseley I think he typed it in an Italian accent. What a mistake a to make a. I wish he would take expansion seriously as sitting in a half empty stadium is not a joking matter.

I coulda edit - but whata the hell! The odda typo won'ta breaka my bones.

I have now stopped worrying about expansion and will divert my attention to relegation woes. The latter being more likely than the former.

So it appears it's not just "one middle class twat" (c) Woodcote Royal, who doesn't feel the expansion is supported by the demand.

Seems the chairman is of a similar mind. Does Woodcote Royal think he's a "twat" too?

Don't feel you need to apologise anyone.

Why would anyone feel the need to apologise, seems to me and most others that the Chairman has helped reduce demand by seeming to decide that RFC and Premier League Football are not worth trying for.

Still at least you paid for two seasons ST to pay for players to stay there Schards

My bet is that what was being argued will subtley change so they were right all along.

The Brighton Argus The cost of building Brighton and Hove Albion's Falmer stadium has risen by £9 million since a Government blunder delayed the project by almost two years.

Despite the rise - caused by inflation and the rocketing cost of raw materials - the club has assured fans the £50 million budget is adequate.

Former deputy prime minster John Prescott originally granted permission for the stadium in 2005, a decision later quashed after a mistake in the wording of the approval document.

The soaring price of steel, fuelled by Chinese construction, led to fears the club could have trouble securing the finance for the 22,500-seat arena.

The concerns were exacerbated after the cost of Liverpool's new stadium leapt by 25 per cent, and news the 2012 Olympic stadium in London will cost £216 million more than originally predicted.

Albion chief executive Martin Perry said: "The cost of actually building the Falmer stadium has risen £9 million since the original decision.

The decision on the extension is nothing to do with the price of steel and everything to do with the concern that the new seats will remain empty .

Also interesting to see that the steel issue adds 25% to other building works but seems to add 200% to ours.

Woodcote Royal
So, back in the real world, the Chairman and his merry band of "blinkered tossers" feel that existing demand dictates that expansion is required.
Meanwhile, one selfish East Stand STH, who probably still believes the sun shines out of Nicky Forster's backside, begs to differ..........................

But keep posting, Schards, things could be quiet on the work front for the next few weeks and this is becoming more entertaining with every passing sellout :P

It would appear not.

Could you take that foot out of your mouth so we can hear what you're saying. Actually, on second thoughts, could you keep it in.

Still, at least although you've made yourself look a complete berk by being utterly and totally wrong on this subject, you can console yourself in the knowledge that you are being vindicated week in week out in your opinion that we won't miss Sidwell

The tradgedy is, Woodcote ROFLoyal also thinks we'll stay up. On that basis alone, all hope is gone.

which almost seems to be that Mr Mad feels we will get relegated, and has little confidence that we will return if we do.

This thread started as 'a bit worrying' regarding the now seemingly doomed expansion plans and is now deservedly switching attention to our seemingly doomed attempts to gain at least a point or score a goal. Schards may have easily won the battle but at what cost?

I notice that, in a bid to boost the attendance for the Fulham game, the OS has announced the club is running a "buy 3, get one free" offer. I don't suppose for one minute they'll be refunding the STHs for this game then?

However, when a significant percentage of season ticket holders realise that

a) they no longer need a season ticket to be sure of getting tickets, and

b) it is no longer cost effective given the many special deals offered for various games

it will be the clubs loss.

I would expect season ticket sales to fall significantly next year if we stay up and to fall off a cliff if we go down (unless an extremely tempting repricing or Charlton like offer is put forward)

but these offers are for seat that are hard to shift, those in the East near the half way line are easier to shift. From day 1 they said great views from all seats at the stadium, but some are greater than others, and those that are are occupied by ST holders, would you rather take a chance and end up at pitch level in the South Stand Schards??

I'm going to renew come what may, however, I suspect that there are lots of fans out there who have season tickets solely so that they can be sure of seeing the 'big' games.

If it is no longer necessary to have a season ticket for this purpose, people may well take their chances with the view wherever they end up but in return choose not to go to some games (that they will go to with a season ticket) or take advantage of special offers thereby saving significant sums of money over the season.

I think the phrase "stating the bleeding obvious" was invented for comments like that.
