Royal Lady No such problems at Watford, I noted today. Nor do they have a safety gate to separate the away fans from the home fans. Nor do most places I've been to, to be fair.

I noticed that too :P

something we were wondering today was why they take the bottle tops, but then they sell bottles with tops in the concourse?

The real reason for this policy is not 'elf and safety. Posters on here have said "you could fall over a bottle with a lid on it". I've never heard anything so ridiculous - have you ever actually seen this happen? I could trip over a bag - are these going to be banned as well? No one is preventing me taking a banana into the ground and dumping the skin.

Newsagents sell drinks for £1, Reading Football Club sell flat ones for £2 which I think says it all. Reading, in their defence, often don't enforce these ludicrous rules. At away games I always tuck a drink with a bottle cap on it in my back pocket and nearly always get through.

I strolled into the game yesterday unopposed with a bottle of pepsi max, top included.

I got away with it too. They searched my bag but either didn't spot my bottle of water or chose to ignore it.

I've mangaed to jib many fully grown people into the ground. Shirley a bottle top won't be too difficult.

Anyone can smuggle a bottle top into the ground, it's getting it in attached to the bottle that's the problem.
