you may have hit upon an idea there, why dont you all go and protest, ask for the area back, some of us helped to get SC to stay by a similar action, I feel sure you can get a few hundred down on a tuesday evening, try it.

'Friendly banter'?

What I have heard coming out of Y26 has included racist, homophobic, sexist crap.

A mate took his daughter to a Pompey game [their first match] and sat in Y26. He has never been back. This is why the club is trying to clean things up. There is passion, and there is foul mouthed threats of violence.

Passion is fine. But all too often we see the scales tip into something else entirely....

I support the Club stance.

There is also a family section. Perhaps your mate should've taken his daughter there?

Pre-smoking ban, if I went to a restaurant and didn't smoke, I wouldn't sit in the smoking section and moan

I have spoken to Clive Doyle, Reading's safety officer and he has taken this decision following various incidents this season - coin throwing and racial abuse are 2 I recall from our conversation. He has offered to attend a meeting to explain his decision and I will attempt to arrange one for next Saturday as the next home game is moved to Monday evening and will be next to impossible to get enough people to a meeting. Please let me know if you would like to attend.

I don't

That Friday Feeling A policy that moves the Y26ers into the better parts of the stadium cannot be a good thing.

Moving the problem doesn't solve it. As Big Foot points out, there are areas of the ground you can sit in safe in the knowledge that the burberry wearing posturing twats that only go to football to wind up the opposition fans will be sat somewhere else.

Not any more.

I've heard homophobia and sexist crap everywhere in the ground. The only two places I've heard racist comments have been in Y22 and the Upper West. Shall we close them too?

I would like to see all objectionable oiks banned - permanently for severe offences. It is clear that there are a tiny number of fans irritated by this policy, and STAR would have to work out where to position themselves. There seems to be a feeling that STAR should automatically support every fan complaint. Why? It is possible that the majority of STAR members would support this policy....

I have heard racist comments from Y26 this season. And there have been incidents of coin throwing etc. So the Club has the right to enforce its rules. If there are objectionable chants and misbehaviour elsewhere then bans and section closures would be a possibility.

I am entitled to an opinion - even if you don't like it.

The family section alluded to is usually full, and it is prone to being wet. If someone attends their first ever match how could they know that Y26 would be full of such merchant bankers???

It is difficult to report something like that when it is impossible to say WHO is guilty. I suspect the Club has the same problem with CCTV. YOu can see an object hurtling across the screen, you can hear vile abuse. But unless you know who is the perpetrator it is difficult to act.

I havent noticed any racial abuse in y26.

Homophobia and sexist to a certain extent, and it is moronic and shows a few of the prepubescent teens to be what they are- idiots. But that doesnt really merit shutting down a stand on its own, and it wont actually prevent the people doing the shouting being homophobic or sexist. All it will do is further worsen the atmosphere in the ground.

You should be able to tell who the culprits for the coin throwing are from cctv. thats what its there for. The offending individuals should be singled out, not blanket bans for whole stands.

If thats true at the mad stad then the individual should be reported and banned. At bristol there isnt much you can do if you dont want to confront the person there and then which I guess you didnt.

Any racist abuse shouldnt be tolerated, and in an ideal world homphobic and sexist abuse shouldnt be either, but given that the second 2 are far more common then you could be there a while. It should be sorted out and combatted by fans through there own initiative though, not through hammer}walnut top down club actions such as closing y26.

Will be attenduing the meeting with Star when I receive details about it.
