BFTG - Wednesday

by LWJ » 20 Sep 2014 17:52

Well in TGI's anyway

Thought we deserved at least a point if not all 3. Though we allowed Wednesday in to the game when we should have finished it off

Anderson - 7 didn't have much to do. Solid enough. No chance with the goal
Obita - 7 thought he played well and did a lot of work up and down the wing
Cooper - 6.5 tired towards the end but solid throughout
Gunter - 6 caught out a few times.
Blackman my MOTM. - 8 thought he worked tirelessly all game. Unlucky with the free kick. Maybe should make his mind up quicker.
Norwood - 7 controlled the midfield well. Good distribution throughout
Akpan - 6 game passed him by at times
Taylor - 6 anonymous for me
Cox - 6.5 worked hard but didn't get a sniff really
Murray - 6 same as above but missed the penalty

Pearce not worth a mention then?

Sooner there is proper competition for Taylor the better the team will be. Love to see a points comparison of games won and lost with him in the starting 11

He's started most games and scored two winning goals so i suspect the stats are in his favour tbh

We didn't play well but 1-0 Reading would have been a fair reflection, so harsh. Some good Football in the first half but then we started going long on goal kicks for some reason ?? Glenn Murray has had two poor games now since his debut & not really sure why we signed Mackie.

Anderson - 7
Gunter -7
Pearce - 7
Cooper-7
Obita - 7
Akpan -5
Norwood-6
Blackman-6
Taylor-5
Cox-6
Murray-4

We miss McCleary.

Murray didn't win a header, couldn't hold it up and fluffed his big chance, same as midweek against Millwall basically.

Just back.

If I'm honest it was a game devoid of any real quality from both teams. Unlucky to lose but on the flip side, we definitely didn't deserve to win. Thought our midfield was overrun the entire game & both our full backs were poor.

A draw was fair & their goal was a harsh deflection.

Cooper stood out for me - other than that I really can't say an awful lot.

Meh

Oh - their number 19 made us look like a bunch of mugs & completely bossed it. Not sure what his name is.

See previous post M8 full backs are poor because every game they have a winger in front of them and have to adapt to there style of play, Midfield is very lightweight nice to play Hollywood balls against 10 man Fulham But when it gets tough we will loose every time no fighters in there just good Footballers

Only seen him once v Millwall and wasn't too Impressed
Didnt jump for any header and as you say really missed the chance to kill the game at 2 - 0
To be honest he didn't look that interested. I hope I am wrong

Got to have a few more options on the set piece. The amount of corners and free kicks we had in the last qtr of the match - just meant Pearce comes lumbering up to back post, ball hit long, Pearce heads back in hoping someone gets on to it. It has worked and will work again - but doing it for the tenth time in a row when you've already been sussed is pretty pointless.
Got no beef with Guthrie - but we were already second to the ball on most midfield play so when he came on and played his old game of sitting too deep we just weren't there at all.

Laughable that Stuart Gray thinks Sheffield Wednesday deserved to win. Apart from pick the ball out of the net I don't think Andersen had a save to make all match. That said, we were wasteful in possession and had numerous opportunities to score. Murray's penalty was weak, we've hit the woodwork and could have possibly had another two penalties in the second-half. Cooper did everything that was asked of him. Disappointing result but still a good start to the season.

Out of the house so couldn't listen to the commentary today. The twitter feed seemed to say we were getting some joy out of the set pieces and went close a couple times was that not the case?

At least we look as if we have a bit of fight about us now. I've thoroughly enjoyed the last two games.

I can't really ask for a lot more at the moment.

The biggest criticism of the goal for me is that they let it through the wall, from that range there's always a chance they will just try to blast it through you so I would have thought it better to just keep the wall together and stand still, if they curl it up and over and still manage to get it to drop in the net from that range then it's just a great goal.
