How so? Did they fail to win 4-0?

readingbedding A retrospective of a Season is very foolish when it's made in September.
But, most of us knew that already!

I admire anyone who's willing to nail his colours to the mast so early on.
I also applaud anyone to stick with it despite "adverse" results.
It's virtually the only thing worth reading on the Team section.

Ian Royal I think some people are starting to enjoy this thread just a little too much.

The irony is that most people, some maybe secretly, agreed with Schards at the time of his original post.

Happily I'm not one of them. I dispute "most people" as well. Some certainly.

Ian Royal I'll give you many.
I may even be persuaded on most if you argue unjustified negative feelings from the previous season led to shortsightedness from many who should have known better.

Watched MoTD first and became conditioned to seeing full commitment and then watched the Ipswich goals on The Chumpionship and you can see starightaway what's wrong with Harper, et al, holding off. Some players just don't want to be here. Agree with your analysis Schards - like the analogies too.
As usual Schards has got it pretty much spot on to be quite honest; a good barometer for a decent, truthful posting on HNA is whether Reading Bedding & winchester_royal disagree with it.
This season: [You tube video of "Road to Nowhere"]
Quite frankly, Schards is right, albeit 18 months a bit too slow to realise.
After 06/07 anyone that thinks progress was going to be made was seriously deluded. The club will go no where, maybe yo yo every few seasons. Great.
RFC's best days are behind them.
The day we beat Preston away to the day we beat Everton at home. Our "best days".
I put money that, if we are still average in December, you will get at least one poster suggesting that we should wait until March before any analysis could be made.
We are at the moment safe in the championship, our home form will ensure that, but a return to the top league is not even on his radar, this lack of ambition and desire from the top must thread down to the players who must realise that they are just now pawns in the owners "selling off" plans. The January window will further confirm this when I fully expect to see more high fee transfers out and very little coming in.
The calls for the mangers head that are increasing daily while the expected response from disollusioned supporters are futile as no creditable manager would come to a club with such minimalisitic plans and ambitions for the next forthcoming seasons. We have to accept that under the present ownership that we are where we are going to stay.
the difference between [Stoke] and us is that have invested in their future, signed virtually a whole new team, how can we see any progress in our future when team like them with a very simular stature to us know what to do when you get promoted, we have probably been as high as I will ever see us go..unless of course that lying tight arse mr Mad leaves
Agree with all except the Madejski part. I suspect the money was there to be spent - it's just that Mr Loyalty was too blinkered to spend it.
I agree with Schards, I syuspect the cash wasnt there - thats why egomaniac was bleating on the radio nand in the papers that the barrel was dry! How can cash be there when he's saying it wasnt!
Also I think egomaniac wants it both ways - he complains that wages ans transfer fees are too high, but Id guess that his value on the club to gain a sale is far too high as well- if it wasnt we would of had interested parties ! He needs to be consistent in whats he says and shows that in his actions! Sooner he's gone the sooner club can move forwards
carpark squad
Maybe we should have had a few of them on the bench!
Agree with you Schards we are a long way off being a yo-yo club.
Being a yo-yo club would definately be a step up for us. But, at the moemnt, we are ging to be far off that.
Our away form is abysmal and we are relying on our home form ( which is surprisingly good).
3 points above a relegation spot? OK its only mid September but seeing Premiership Years for last season on Sky a few nights back and at times the league table looked really good.
What worries me is that it took Coppell a long time to realise changes were needed last season. This last defeat and he says changes are needed. Just dont expect a knee jerk reaction as he doesnt do them. One or two at the most will change.
I still can't believe Coppell didn't get anyone in during the summer.
Matejovsky and Harper will not be strong enough for the battle in this league.
2000 again! Yay!
Couldn't agree more Schards.
Plenty of players and plenty of cover in most positions. Shame they're just all so unremittingly average.
No the club is not facing bankruptcy in financial terms but IMO it is beginning to look pretty skint in terms of commitment, ideas and motivation!
