This deal would have been under negotiation for at least two weeks. No excuse can be given for lack of time but no doubt that will be the excuse. Madman out and i mean outttttttttttttttt

And replace him with what, exactly? Admittedly he's given up, and it'd be delightful for someone new to come in and invest, but I'd love to spaff all over Karen Gillan's face. You can't always get what you want.

Any market has it'sprice and the football market is no different. However it has to be realistic and that's the problem with our tw** of a Chairman. He has a fixation for milking money out and not investing.

Real facts.

We have clearly been actively trying to sell £3m - £6m worth of players. As other have said this bid won't have come from no where. I think it's safe to say that IS knows exactly what is going on and he has talked about the coach being at training sessions and the interest going as far back as the German U21 game. So this clearly has not come as a surprise. Added to the fact we appear to have tried to flog Long and would accept a decent offer for Fed. I would imagine that targets have been lined up. Who they are depends on what they have to spend. Would be shocked not to see Kish sign now and would be disappointed not to see at least £2m invested on quality Championship players. A centre mid who can just run the game and a centre forward to replace Sig's 20 goals. They won't come cheap.

Again, not entirely true dodger. For a few seasons in a row he made some decent investment, Convey for £800k, Lita for £1mil, brought in experienced players like Ingi and Gunnar (and their signing on fees and wages will not have been cheap for a small Championship club in 2003/4), and we were rewarded with 2005/6. Then the investment did not continue to meet the level of football we were playing at, and were found out. It's a shame, because he was just about getting it right.

The fee is good, but what use is that if we don't invest any back in? New recruits are now a must; there is no excuse for not adding to our squad.

soggy biscuit There seems to be a lot of naivety on here around business transactions.

People seem really upset that the deal has gone through so late. That is business, leaving it late gives more power to one party involved, why do you think so much business will be done today??

The club will have known for a few days so if they are planning on spending any money then they will also have done their homework and will know who they want and what they can offer.

If it is around £6M for an unproven, young player who has only played 1 full season then it is a cracking deal.

You may remember that there didn't use to be a transfer window..................

Players moved around without too much trouble then.

Gylfi speaks to Icelandic newspaper Morgunblaðið following his 6m move to Hoffenheim. Icelandic side Breiðablik have hit the jackpot as they will receive 10% of the transfer fee.

Gylfi qoutes:

“I am really happy with the contract and I have a great feeling about the team and everything around it. This is very exiting. Hoffenheim is a club on the way up and plans to win things in the future. I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t know a lot about the club at first but I knew it surprised a lot of people two years ago,” Gylfi told Morgunblaðið.

“I never expected to go to Germany but I good offer arrived, both for me and the club. The Bundesliga is a great league with a lot of strong teams and it will be exiting to play there. I think that kind of football will suit me well. I fully understand I wont be walking into the first 11 here as the team has started the season well. I have to prepare myself for a lot competition but that is a really good thing. It will just make you stronger. I am taking a big leap but its hopefully just one of many leaps but I say goodbye to Reading with a lot of sadness and I will miss the club a lot," said Gylfi.

Gordons Cumming This transfer window business needs sorting out.

Mad rush on the last day giving the selling club no time to respond.

Ridiculous.

It's easy all you need to do is extend the purchasing window by one week longer than the selling window. Allowing clubs a extra week to buy players.

This is a joke surely?

How can clubs buy if other clubs are no longer able to sell?! :?

According to Sunday Supplement yesterday, transfer window only runs into our season because the Spanish League kicks off later.

Clubs could, to a certain extent protect themselves by ensuring any release clause in contracts only applies if deal is concluded at least one week before end of transfer window.

Why is that funny? He would have been better off staying at Reading if that is the case - he says quite clearly it's a good deal for the club and himself and he'll miss RFC - I'd have expected him to say it was time for him to move on etc if he REALLY had wanted to go.

Clause activated. Germans chatted him up. They are top of the Bundesliga. Champions League football a real possibility. Billionnaire owner. Good wages.

To think he, or anyone else, including yourselves were in the position would do otherwise, is madness.

See you around Gylfi. Make it to the top and make us all proud.

SLAMMED Secured a few sales of Sigurdsson replica shirts as well before he was sold as well. That will pay for a pair of diamond earrings for Cilla.

Word of advice for anyone wanting a name printed on the back of their replica shirt.

'For Sale' might be more appropriate!

It's Uke.

Given some of his posts on the politics thread, I'm actually torn as to the true intent of the post.
