rhroyal I don't understand why managers get compensation when they're sacked. Whenever I get a new job I sign a contract, saying that I persistently perform poorly they will go through the disciplinary procedure before sacking me. I know these contracts are different because they don't involve time periods and require notice from me to leave etc. They're effectively rolling. If somebody gets made redundant they get compensation related to various factors. When somebody gets sacked for poor performance, they don't.

Why should football managers, who are already over paid and wealthy enough, get a massive pay off for being crap at their job? It made my blood boil when McLaren took millions of the tax payers' money for doing a shit job with England. The money we give the club for our tickets should not go to Rodgers for the same reason. The systems is ridiculous.

Unfortunately that's the way it is, and things will have to get worse before Madejski acts.

The difference being how do you define if Rodgers is doing a bad job? Yes he picks the team but it wasn't Rodgers fault Ivar got sent off, or McAnuff scuffed a backpass. Yes he's not been in charge of a successful team but i presume he turns up on time, gives it 100% and treats players and staff well.

The only way that he wouldn't deserve a payoff is for gross misconduct. If he's signed a 3 year deal then he should realistically expect to be here for three years unless Rodgers has a performance related deal that stipulates his contract can be freely terminated if conditions aren't met.

If you want someone to blame for McClaren then blame the bloody FA, they gave him a 4 year deal and then didn't put in some sort of termination clause based on failure to qualify.

The only solution to this is to place your manager on a rolling 1 year deal as I believe the likes of Martin O'Neil has and one that SSC also had for the majority of his tenure here. However when you do that you run the risk of losing your manager pretty sharpish.

That's why the real world model sucks. If manager deals were the same as you or I enjoy, then a manager could get tapped up by Man City and leave after giving his months notice. How much would that fook you off?

Wimb Yes he picks the team but it wasn't Rodgers fault Ivar got sent off, or McAnuff scuffed a backpass.

I have to take issue with that.

He picks the team - normally a different one every match.

He chooses the formation and tactics - normally different every match.

He motivates the players and gives them their instructions - unfortunately there is no evidence of this.

The team is not organised, they do not know their jobs, they don't close down players, they have no idea how to attack - all of that is down to Rodgers and his coaching and training.

Look at Blackpool to see what an organised team with players no better than what we have can achieve.

But don't worry we ran more distance than the West Brom players did during the match last Saturday, unfortunately nearly all of that running was done without the ball and chasing shadows.

I think Southgate would becoem hapless here too. What you need is an experienced championship manager, and there are plenty about, both in and out of work.
