royalexile I did think the shirts worn today were a tadd too much for the rematch. Also i feel Owen Coyle is somehow basking in reflected sunlight.

I had better watch what i say though as i might get 56 days in jail !!

You are braver than me, as I wanted to say that. When Coyle faced in to the camera on MOTD the other night and gave his own direct tribute, I couldn't help thinking that part of his brain was saying to him "Good lad Owen, you wont get sacked now." I just wish that one player had had the balls to come out and say "I won't be praying for Muamba, because actually, I am an atheist, but I wish him all the best as a fellow pro." Correct me if I am wrong, but Surely not every football player is religious?

I'll let you all in to a little secret............God didn't save Muamba, it was some f*cking good doctors and a defibrillator. Unfortunately you don't get them at pitches on a Sunday morning, God doesn't seem to bother showing his face at these games either. Why would he when he can get all the plaudits he needs at a high profile FA Cup match?

I haven't changed my opinion about the original reaction of people dealing with a serious issue in their own way, be that helplessness, praying for some divine intervention or pure medical skills arriving in a timely manner. That is about respect for the moment and i will always feel a pang when i hear of another British soldier killed in Afghansitan, but that is my trigger and my lifes influences coming out. To others it means nothing.
The sour taste was the manipulation after the event. Initial updates were fine but the media frenzy surrounding the hospital, like a pack of rabid hyenas scratching around, bored, chatting idle chat about anything and everything, waiting for the family to enter and leave the hospital to shove cameras, microphones into non media savvey faces has never sat well with me. It's fantastic news that Muamba is making a great recovery. I just hope he will be snuck out of the back door of the hospital when he eventually leaves.

As always the media become instantly hungry for similar events to connect the initial event to keep it ticking along. It happens (no doubt) daily but goes unreported as these people are non entities, normal people going about their lives who are not going to shift units for any reportage. It's great if CPR awareness, defibs etc, become more widely available to everyone at any level in their workplace but once this ripple of interest peters out people will forget about it. Cost is cost.

Please can the media just let it go, let Muamba get back to some form of life after release from hospital, and allow the reportage on boring domestic duties about sex, booze and A list stars consume this vapid media hungry society.

With three 24 hour news channels - one dedicated to sport you have absolutely no hope of that happening rex.

Petrov has been diagnosed with leukaemia now. Looks like the grief bandwagon can continue rolling.

Will there be a minute's silence for him tomorrow?

OldBiscuit

OldBiscuit Thank goodness Fabrice Muamba, a man with absolutely no connection to reading Football Club looks like he is going to pull through. Probably won't play again and no doubt a visit from the careers officer is imminent.
More importantly, this saturdays planned sobfest is cancelled and we haven't got to suffer another of those 'minutes silence' that seem to bring out the attention seeking qualities in some fans, the 'look at me i'm mourning' or 'i must look so adult mourning like this' or even ' i love this American style shit of public mourning and when this minute is up i'm going to shout YESSSSS!' or the worst one ' i never ever met this person, they had no relevance to my life but i am going to shed a tear and hope the camera catches me crying'. These same people that were blogging glowing tributes to Tommy burns, the biggest charlaton to ever (dis)grace this club.
However, for all those that need to seen to be saddened and dutifully mourning, Rolf Harris in well into his seventies and lives in Berkshire, You never know!

So, basically what you're saying is that if it's nothing to do with you, it doesn't affect you or yours & has no bearing whatsoever on you or your life it's not worth giving a flying oxf*rd about then.....is that about right? - can you see the common denominator here?... i.e. the word 'you'

Are you implying that a young mans life that hung in the balance doesn't matter to anyone outside of his family, friends & work colleagues? I don't think I have heard for quite some time such utter selfish, self centered drivel from another human being, where is your human compassion?

And you have the audacity to compound your idiotic statement by making a comparison to Tommy Burns?... prior to Reading he played for Celtic & was player/manager at Kilmarnock (the first football team I ever watched!!) as well and was highly rated at both clubs, of course you being such a colonial imbecile won't give a toss about that eh? it's not in Berkshire is it?

There is a maxim I attempt to live my life by - it is a poem called 'Desiderata', there is a part that says 'Listen to others, even the dull & ignorant, they too have their story' unfortunately I cannot see, for the life of me where your 'story' is in this piece of absolute nonsense, although I can see that you definitely fit in to the 'ignorant' part, because no other reason comes to mind other than you are an insensitive, unfeeling, self-centered ignoramus of the highest degree.

You have waffled and strayed from the topic and consequently lost the chance of impact. Less is more. Are you merino?

What's a 'Merino' ??
