Bump

Nothing on the Charlton board about us, just them bemoaning their lack of attacking prowess, which, reflecting on the game, is fair, and their match thread was one bloke talking to himself for 4 pages.

Mundell Haven't missed a home game yet, but this was my first away trip of the season. Football is a game of very fine margins which the best team doesn't always win, but while it's true that we might have just managed to hang on today to earn a very fortunate draw, especially if Patrick Bauer hadn't received his second yellow card, the fact is that we were completely outplayed by a vastly superior side. On another day it could easily have been four, five or more

I think this is spot on
We created a lot of good chances and could gave scored a htaful
People would not have been so critical about the style of play had they gone in.
Danny Williams alone had two gilt edged opportunities

I think that's spot on tbf. We didn't create enough to rack up a big win but if we'd notched an early goal I suspect more would have followed as Charlton chased the game.

Like the guy says, nearly got away with it but the red card was just a step too far.

23 shots, only 4 on target apparently, but still plenty of chances created

There was a lot of leaning back or otherwise off balance shooting going on. They just lost their rhythm a little bit with the break and were frustrated into snatching pot shots by Charlton's organised defence. Call it a bad day at the office, but job done. Exactly the sort of win a promotion chasing side should be able to get when necessary.

And starting four players who with everyone fit arguably wouldn't make the first XI.

Not so much a fan but Neil Redfearn categorically thinks we're the best team in the league;

Neil Redfearn They are the best side in this division, I have to say, I have seen a lot of the Championship before I got this job.

Saw the interview with him and whilst you can never fully tell, he looked and sounded pretty genuine, as apposed to bigging up his own teams result.

I immediately lose any respect and interest in anyone who used the word "tinpot" to describe a club.

Predictably this appears to be one persons view on NorthStandChat.

Also comments that we made no noise which I find laughable.

I stopped reading after two pages as there was nothing constructive

They hate us yet they're turning into us. I guess that makes them tinpot too.

I quite like Brighton as a place but reading NorthStandChat does give the impression it's a city populated almost entirely by cretins.

They are quite a patronising bunch, keen to damn Reading for attendances, atmosphere etc. Odd, given that their successes on the pitch in the last 20 years or so aren't a patch on ours - I suppose it's something to cling onto.

Living down in Brighton, I think what hurts them more than 'tinpot' Reading having more success than them is Palace continually doing well.

After their woeful prediction that they'd beat Palace in the 2013 off semi-final they then started to say that Palace would come straight back down. After this proved horribly wrong, they now have to put up with the media saying that Palace's home support is the best in the country. This grates with them, so much so, that they've now got a small, flag-waving Ultras corner to try to be like them

A lot of them do have an obsession with the word tinpot and, agree, those that use most it appear to be the thickest of their thick tw@s. Quite handy as a hard marker for idiocy tbf.

They're an alright bunch on the whole. Like most clubs.

Not West Ham.

Chatted to a couple of them over the fence at the Three Guineas whilst watching the end of the Rugby. I suspect it's a bit like a fandom mirror really, nice enough bunch when you meet them, but their online presence is marred by a couple of vitriolic keyboard warriors.

Good to see their fans are still mongos, limp wrists gestures, the classics "we can see you holding hands" and "does your boyfriend know you're here"

Have to agree with the 'mongo' comment if this is true though

It is true I'm afraid. I mentioned it on the BFTG thread. Chants of a similar nature.

The guy next to me - aged about 40 - must have thought it hilarious to chant periodically "you all love cock... You all love cock..." And similar chants about anal sex.

You have to agree with them making a comment about one kind of discrimination whilst they use a offensive term like "mongo"? The moment they use language like that is the moment they lose their moral high ground.
