Snowflake Royal
Royalwaster Funny how some people are already asking for more money to be spent and have forgotten where that got us under the previous ownership. It's the typical attitude - I want everything but don't want to pay for it.

Other than Jimmy, who is asking for more money to be spent?

How are Labour doing Ian?

tidus_mi2 Mbengue confirmed for QPR then, should get compensation I believe since he's 23.

Good luck to him!

Snowflake Royal ......................Pereira
Abrefa, O'Connor, Stickland, Garcia
......................Wing
.................Elliott, Savage
..Camara.........................Knibbs
.........................?

It's not looking fabulous

As a starting 11 or 10 (No Striker :D ) that's not to bad! Pereira is clearly the best keeper in the league!! The defense isn't bad, clearly Bindon and Mbengue will be a miss however, O'Connor is a great signing and Abrefa, Stickland and Garcia all have a years experience under their belts and a full pre season so not all doom and gloom.
We probably have the best midfield three in the league which probably explains Craig's decision to move on!! In knibbs we have a star player who can score goals and we have done well to keep hold of him.
Know we get to in my opinion our two problem areas, no strikers lol, so we probably need three in unless one of our junior players can break through somehow but i think we may be a bit light in that department and finally to the most underwhelming player in the team Camara!! i was shocked to see him being offered a new contract.
We also have Ryan, Clarke and Yids in reserve and hope that both Ryan and Clarke can have breakout a season after their injuries.
Hypothetically if we can add a good first team striker and lets say replace Camara with Meite then that really isn't a bad first eleven!! :D :D

You have more faith than me in that back line. I don’t have a lot of confidence in Stickland or Garcia. Or Abrefa being fit.

I'd be happy with 6, maybe 7 of those players starting. And once you go beyond them it's a bit dire.

Their being under contract notwithstanding, can we be confident that we keep Knibbs and/or Savage? Feels like both have admirers in the leagues above and we may not be able to resist decent offers for them, especially if the general financial picture is so terrible. Will be even more frustrating if we then lose Craig as well who may have plugged a gap.

Nice to see the new Board member has swallowed the Kool Aid...

"Ross Kestin of Aliya Capital Partners said: “We’re thrilled to be part of Reading Football Club. This is a tremendously exciting project – one which we believe to be among the very best in Europe and we truly believe in the future of this club.”

Don't worry Lads, were gonna win the European super Cup championship Playoffs...

Well I suppose Mbengue was expected but it's a bit gutting all the same, can't blame him for wanting to play at higher level I guess but yeah his passion will be missed.

Wareham is a strange one though. No disrespect to Exeter I think they're a good club but you have to question what has made him choose them over us? If they have offered him a better deal than what we offered then our deal can't have been very good at all and he was possibly offended by it.

Other than that surely we are better equipped to fight for promotion than they are? Now that the takeover is sorted etc. Plus with us he knows the club and was starting to build something, not like he wouldn't have been playing regularly either even when we sign players so yeah not saying he isn't replaceable but I'm a little baffled by that one.

I guess I'm putting a lot of faith in the younger guys kicking on and staying injury free in Abrefa's case. Also hoping our Academy conveyor belt can keep producing's it's magic and proving it's worth to our hierarchy :D

Glass half full: the new contract he was offered was in line with his status - but not like previous RFC offers - and he was told that we will be rebuilding the forward line with better players.
He tried to get us to up the deal, but we have budgets now and Exeter offered more guarantees.

Let's see where we are Sept 1st before judging this window

There's no way we would have offered him 3 years which is what he's getting at Exeter.

Elm Park Kid Unfortunately WiFi might not be staying after all. Bit of a miscommunication. Up in the air that one.

Wareham has gone to Exeter. Craig gone as well.

How in oxf*rd are we losing out on an academy player to Exeter?

2 year +1 deal I expect.

Right so the wareham mystery is solved. We apprently only offered him a contract so we could get compensation. We offered a really shit contract knowing he wouldn’t sign it. Which was better than releasing him on a free. He was deemed by hunt, as surplus to requirements.

That makes more sense - and presumably means Hunt has the funds to sign an upgrade on JW.

It has to be at least as good as the previous one to get comp doesn’t it? Or is that an old rule

Agree it should probably have been better than the previous deal mind you

Devon live is confirming that Exeter paid compensation for Wareham and local London news said a couple of days ago that QPR were negotiating a fee for Mbengue. Does anyone have an idea of likely amounts involved?
