SWLR Like the Gas, WHU fans speak of the Irons, not the Hammers.

"Iron" is, of course, cockney rhyming slang...

floyd__streete I doubt that they still make hats in Luton

If you make hats, you are a milliner.

And

The town of Stockport has manufactured more hats than Luton ever did, but why is it that it's easy to recall that the Hatters is Luton Town yet when asked for Stockport's nickname one instinctively blurts out "hmmm, the old nearest-League-ground-to-the-River-Mersey-ites, eh?"

Personally like any Biscuit connection and hate any Royal (parasite) connection. The Cobblers is a great nickname for NT and we could be known by any number of sobriquets, The Hoops, the Plastics, the Ding, the Berkshire Blueveins, the Prawn Sandwich Munching Librarians, etc but above all else teams make names, names don't make teams. Let's review the situation after BR has had a season or two?

Hmmm, this is interesting, I've never thought of Stockport as the Hatters, but they did have a chant (back in 1994, do they still chant it?) along the lines of I-O County....well I don't know as I never heard it (obviously), but the scoreboard was helping them to chant it. Was it?

Hey knob, if you really hate royalty ( jesus, get over it), then why do you have "Royal Oak" in your location?

No question about the way I feel about the royals the Dorset locals quite sensibly hung a 'royal' from our Royal Oak. It's also a pub on a par with the Rose & Thistle HTH Viva the republic!

We still have a nickname in regular use.."URZzz". This is a derivative of "The R`s" which was used by QPR for many years until they dropped it about twenty years ago in favour of the poxy "Superhoops".
By the by, why does that geezer on the annoying car insurance advert on TalkSport keep referring to Plymouth Argyle as the Jenners....Shite I`ve just set light to the spatula

Always shout "Come on you Royals" as I leave the office the eve before a game and get a shout back from the workshop "You RRRsss"

Can't imagine shouting "Up the lilly Whites" and feeling the same way.
