Dirk Gently Duberry has never, ever been a ball-playing centre-back. He's a centre-back, simple as.
His job is to stop the ball getting past him - if that means putting it into Row Z or hoofing it forward then that's fine by me. Defenders defend, and he's done that pretty well.
Yes, there are a few ball-playing centre-backs around, but they're pretty rare and won't be playing for the likes of Reading, unless they're poorer at defending than Doobs.

Focher jesus christ how many times does it have to be said, they were bad because they didnt get given the ball from defence, so either they were far too high up the pitch to receive the ball cos they knew it would be a hoof, or they didnt get it all.
