It’s so difficult to work out from an armchair what was Hunt’s fault and what was someone else’s. You have to feel for him losing so many key players, not getting the replacements he wanted, and the replacements he did get not really working out the gate. And now losing his job when his only real striker gets injured along with our fantastic goalkeeper.

But Doncaster felt like a litmus test. If Cardiff and Northampton were demonstrative of improving performances and not just outliers, Doncaster needed to be a good performance and good result. It wasn’t really either and it becomes such a gamble to keep going with Hunt when we are pretty much back to square one a third of the way through the season.

It’s going to be really interesting to see how the new manager has an impact. Will we suddenly see great performances from the likes of Lane, Burns and Doyle? Will Wing be moved forwards into a more attacking position? Is Elliot going to see more action?

I’m really sad that it didn’t work out for Hunt, it just would have been a perfect story if it had. But I’m also excited to see what happens next. I hope it’s not wishing that Hunt wasn’t sacked.

Well that sucks. Thought he had a little longer to turn it around. Such a positive, nice guy with a great history with us.

Absolutely hamstrung by injuries to O'Connor and Williams and a couple of key signings proving to be not good enough in MOM and Burns.

Hopefully we can move on positively and get a bounce.

It's just not come.together very well.

Well 1871 will be happy. Shameful by them yesterday. Did a remarkable job last season. If we hadn’t had to firesale our best players last season at bargain prices. We would have made the playoffs.

What about the East stand then. They to were shouting for Hunts head as well. Are they not shameful as well or are you blinkered.

Most were out of contract and refused new terms.

The general consensus of opinion on here at the time was we got very good money indeed for both Knibbs & Smith so probably wouldn't brand a fire sale.

Not sure about this.

Yes we're looking pretty poor and there doesn't appear to be an identity in how we play, but I'd have given him until the end of November to show some improvement. I didn't like the chanting yesterday it lacked class.

Didn't suprise me after those shocking chants by our fans. Before those chants we were saying how we really weren't enjoying watching the turgid football being dished up.. What did suprise me was the timing.....could it be they have someone already. I didn't expect it so soon.

Certainly didn’t like the chants and would have hated for it to have become widespread and persistent

Absolutely can’t fault Hunts attitude or work ethic. Everyone wanted him to do well but it’s just not been working

Last year we had a really tight knit small squad, many through the academy - and I really feel we ignored those lessons and would put the failings down to too many players, players being dropped too quickly, too many loans, panic signings as well as losing too many of that core group headed by Knibbs and Mbengue

Ascotexgunner What did suprise me was the timing.....could it be they have someone already. I didn't expect it so soon.

I saw a comment on Twitter (yes, I know), observing that the lack of mention of an interim manager suggested they had somebody already lined up. And, following that logic, presumably therefore someone not already employed elsewhere. (Which suggests Bloomfield?)

I do think fans don’t give enough consideration to the long shadow of events of the last few seasons. A club not in disarray could have had a plan in place for losing the spine of the team, and hit the ground running. We couldn’t. It’s clear the league is actually quite close in standard - we could have been a couple of signings away from being a solid (if not spectacular) team. It’s Smith we’re missing most, I think. There clearly weren’t any strikers on the market last summer.

Now to put up with weeks and months of a new manager trying to figure out what his best team if while we splutter and fail

Smith was the difference between us and the playoffs last season.
The more I'm hearing and reading about Bloomfield, the more it seems likely it's him they have in place. Could be a quick announcement before Carlisle.

I know I am in a minority as most of you seem to have wanted Noel gone at any cost, but I’m so annoyed that I actually hope we get relegated this season to teach the impatient owner a lesson.

I have attended all the games I can so far this season, but I cannot see me wasting any more money supporting a club that truly deserves to go down.

You okay? just give us one reason why we should have kept him? loyalty? that`s 10 a sodding penny man.
Imagine hoping we go down because we sacked a manager, if you were born in 1957 you must have seen some truly dreadful sides, and maybe you need to grow up.

Have supported the club through thick and thin during all the dark times, but not sure I can any more. Disgraceful knee jerk panty pooping decision by the new owner. Leaves a very sour taste after what Hunt did last season in keeping the club going against all the odds. Loyalty might be unimportant to you but it is important to me.

Really disappointed with this decision. Feel for Noel he done a bloody good job last year and it’s not like we have been losing lots of games just too many draws. Fine margins that perhaps could have gone our way if we got the extra striker we clearly so desperately needed.

Football is full of ups and downs and I think sometimes it’s better to stick with the manager and come out the other side in a stronger position.

Nobody likes to see somebody get the sack although in the case of football managers under contract they do tend to get rather a significant pay-off so it's not all bad for the individual.

We of course don't know what targets he had been set and whether having so few points at various stages would mean the inevitable.

He did well last season to keep the team ticking over although that last game thrashing by Barnsley was a big let down for the near capacity crowd.

This season the football has been dull and we have felt the inertia in the crowd who have been wondering what our game plan has been other than to play long to strikers who can't play the hold-up role and just hope we might feed from scraps or just hope that Lewis Wing will continue banging them in from distance.

It is a reminder once more that the club doesn't belong to us and we have no say nor influence-these appointments are just done on the whim of an owner and we , for so many different reasons, continue to buy in to something that we love or have just grown up with over the years to become a habit.

I don't know what money the new guy will have to spend in January but I hope the owners have enough faith in him to trust him with some funds to at least keep us away from the drop zone.
I am not sure with what he will inherit now on the pitch that is a foregone conclusion.

Just coming to the conclusion that there is just no point caring about this club. A good club is a collaborative effort between the owners, the players and the fans. The way the fans have turned on Hunt in recent weeks is disgraceful in my opinion. Frankly the owners brought in a lot of third rate players this summer to replace our star players who left. There was no proper striker until the end of the transfer window and then we have had a ridiculously bad run of injuries. Hunt was given a very difficult hand and has been made a scapegoat for the owner’s bad decisions over the summer. Relegation would be deserved in my opinion - although even the current poor squad is likely to end mid table whoever the manager is - as there are so many poor clubs in L1.

Anyway I’m done with it all for this season at least.
