RoyalBlue Just don't let them see any videos of Shorey during his last few months with us! The last thing we need is that couldn't care less, mercenary, 'I'll be off to a better club come the end of the season' attitude infiltrating our squad.

I'll never forget or forgive that smug grin he gave to the North East corner when the rest of the team were fighting for our PL survival and he got given stick for his apparent lack of urgency/care.

One interpretation of the grin, almost certainly a million miles wide of the mark just like most of your contributions on this Board.

LoyalRoyalFan
floyd__streete Pfffff. Looked very average and defensively suspect in his fleeting appearances earlier this season. Displayed precious little to get overly excited about. That said, he is young and perhaps will improve. He is a better prospect now than Cummings looked two seasons ago, I spose (not hard that though).

Laughable.

Ian Harte is very suspect at the back yet we don't hear about it. Mills > Harte

Another goal from a Harte set-piece yesterday.

Mills playing left wing

I like mills. Works hard, has pace, might give the ball away sometimes. But he's young and I think he has a very good future!!

Mills looked ordinary for 30 minutes yesterday but I thought he had an excellent second half
got plenty of tackles in, worked well with Harte and other defenders, went on a few
great breaks. Considering his last game was November 19th and he's only just back from
a training injury, think he did extremely well and looks very promising

I don't see him as a left winger though. His crossing was average and he does not appear to be able to beat a defender very well

You got me thinking...

Considering how much we go on about wing-play

How many of our goals come from a winger's cross (as opposed to a free-kick?)

Our wing play isn't the traditional beat the defender and whip in a cross to be headed in. It's about attacking the box from wide. We're as likely to have our wingers cut inside and pass or attack the goal themselves as put a cross in from wide. If not more so.

Its another option and his pace helped him on the wing, but it also masked his deficiencies too. Mills passing out of defence is shocking and i don't rate him that position, I think he has more potential on the wing than at LB.

I think Mills did really well yesterday. Wasn't even too bothered by his crossing. He put in one great one near the beginning if i remember correctly.
Going forward yesterday (before getting fouled) it reminded me a bit of Bertrand a few years back!

+ one.

Harte has obvious pace deficiencies and Mills helped him out a lot and ran all afternoon. As a result Harte looked far less stretched than he has many times this season and was able to offer a lot creatively.

I think the Harte Mills combination on the left offers a lot that other combinations do not.

Thought he was OK yesterday but (perhaps unsurprisingly) he was better defensively that going forward.

Just looked a bit lightweight, too easily knocked off the ball, and didn't quite have enough pace to be a real threat. He did put in a couple of decent crosses, so no a disaster, but McAnuff, when fit, offers a lot more...

As a winger, Mills certainly has pace when running to the ball but he's no Bobby Convey.... But maybe he will be with games?
