What do you think you'll bring to the club?
Hopefully I'm going to bring a lot of things. With the club kind of aiming for promotion this year, I obviously want to be a massive part of that. Defensively I want to be sound and try and get as many wins as we can to achieve promotion

Only 'kind of'?

Where's the ambition?

Alan Partridge Could have put the entire transfer fee on JM saying 'this states our ambition toget back into the Premiership'

Big fee for Reading so they must see him as aregular which means it may well be tough for Bikey to get back in the side.

To me, Bikey already has the look of a man who's running down his contract. Happy to have him in reserve, but as far as RFC are concerned, almost certainly a busted flush.

If Bikey isnt going to play regular we need to get rid of him as he will be on big wages.

Don't be ridiculous .You can't judge a player a liability based on his performance in friendlies, you need to look at his last competitive gam.....oh!

Surely you are judging Bikey on the last 30 seconds of his last competitive game.

He was pretty solid for 89 minutes against Burnley....

Got totry and get a decent centre forward now.

Cries in the past for Bikey to play holding midfield role, who knows?

Actually that whole game was Bikey in a nutshell.

For most of the game he was commanding if a little too casual at times. Unfortunately all that is good about him was pretty much undone by a rush of blood to the head in giving away a penalty followed by losing the plot altogether by getting himself sent off.

Good. The man's a liability. His performance against Chelsea was laughable.

You kidding? He's our best player.

I was speculating, obviously. We do now suddenly seem over-blessed in the CB position. I thought that one old/established, two young/up-and-coming, plus one on loan was what we were going for. All of a sudden we have three of the best young CBs in the div. A great position to be in, but how to keep them all happy once Ingi's back?

So, fair to assume that first choice for starters will be Mills and Pearce. Where will this leave the Iceman when he regains full fitness? Would Ivar be above or below Psycho in the pecking order? One thing for sure is that the rebuilding has only just begun. This is what I would regard as a transitional phase. Hopefully Matt will fit in very nicely and go on to a long and successful career with us.

It would fking typical of tightwad egoman to nix this transfer and sign Bobby Moore on a free. Wouldn't have to pay him wages either.

looks like ivar is back up due to fitness-at least to start-to be brought in for injury, or if those twos inexperience starts to be a problem

same with bikey but for temperament reasons

The key attribute of any defender is consistency, and Bikey does not have an ounce of it.

Even if he did his point is rubbish.

No defender is more consistent than me.

And I wouldn;t get a game for the Girl Guides.

Above consistency you need a bit of ability, some bravery, good decision making, physical presence etc etc.

Neither Ferdinand or Terry are especially consistent but both have other attributes that allow them the odd lapse of concentration

I think it would be foolish to sell Bikey. He is our best defender by a long way.

going forward its important that he stays IMO-if he does go, wed just need to get a replacement anyway

ivar isnt going to last too much longer-and moving forward it would be great to have 3 of the quality of mills, pearce and bikey

Utter rubbish. Both are the very epitomy of consistency. Plus, I didn't say all you need is consistency, just that it is a vital component of any good defender. It just takes one lapse of concentration (and Bikey normally serves up several of them) for the opposition to score. He can be imperious 80% of the time, but it is the other 20% which always leads to trouble, see Burnely last season for example. Being a defender is not the same as being a striker. When up fron you can afford to be naff 50% of the time, but you certainly can't afford it when you're playing in the back line. That's why Coppell never trusted him, and it's also the reason that BR has signed Mills.
