Uke But how do we handle those who want to stand and swear/ those who want to stand/ those who want to stand and surge forward/ those who like male "bonding", etc..

It's not as simple as just having standing. Even standers have their cliques!

theres no crush/surge with safe standing terraces, due to all teh barriers between each set of seats, as i understand it

Yeah, but what about the people that want that? We should cater for them too. It's all part of the "atmosphere" and "passion", etc...

Not bothered one way or the other, but footie's moved on from the days of rosettes, rattles, scarves and terraces

On a terrace, even at an unfamilar ground, you quickly work out where you want to be and can move accordingly.

The same option isn't available with seats and that's the crux of the issue.

+ zillions

Apart from the distance I have to travel, I don't like the seating aspect.
Football was always a social event where you could meet up with likeminded others and move around to chat to more than the six people you were directly next to. If I didn't like those I was stood next to (or if they didn't like me) I could move.

Perhaps we need some perspective other than from within...
In response to a comment I posted on their SCFC site, here are the responses I have had back. Grown-up adult talk from reasonable-minded people, maybe we should try some of that on this site.

Thanks, very generous. I don't disagree with your match analysis too much, although our tinted specs will always influence our perspectives
You certainly made it a really exciting second half!

Good luck next season

It's a pity both of us could not have gone up. Your club is superb and your supporters are superb. Seeing the dignified and gracious behaviour of both your manager and chairman after the final whistle only adds to all that. Best of luck next season!

I'd say the stats were influenced by the game a bit.. we didn't really need to go all out for more goals when in front.

But at the same time your fans were brilliant, your manager is a class act.. and cannot believe the reaction of your chairman (or Brendan).

Add that to the effort and ability of your players (glad Kebe wasn't match sharp when he performs that well with time out!)

Really would like to see you join us in the top flight in two seasons time! Good luck!

I have a soft spot for Swansea, I think it's all due to that young fan who was in tears on the radio after the Swans were relegated. I bet he has a big grin on his face now.

Agreed.

Anyway, glad I missed out on all this.

I was with TBM (amongst others) in 132 and we were stood up all game. Apart from I remember sitting down for about thirty seconds after the 3rd goal thinking 'is this really happening!?'

I was well fcuked off, losing badly on the pitch, beer and the realization that barring miracles the match was sadly done.

LOL @ using pre-match photos to evidence standing. That's theatre not football.

Show me the same crowds during the matches.

dont be so pedantic.
You know full well that the entire kop/stretford end stands for entire matches.
as do certain ends at west ham/leeds/portsmouth/spurs/chelsea.... etc...
It seems the fans that want to sit at these clubs have the common sense to buy tickets elsewhere.. ie west upper ot our place or upper tiers if at wembley.

siiit daaaan.

There's been some real pearlers on this thread but this must be close to the top of the chart.

Avon Royal Fuck off and never come back.

That really mattered to some of us. Have never been so ashamed to be a Reading fan. What happened on the pitch was football, it happens. However, what happened in the stands was unforgivable. Getting real fans ejected because they show passion is lower than low. If you don't like shouting and swearing then stay at home.

Oh, and nobody gives a fuck if there are kids present.

Charming, big man aint you, swear in front of my family and we will soon see how big you are

Cheers.
Although seriously, it's a physical thing ain't it?
When you're so involved in something how can you just sit there? Was bouncing around all match bruv.
God knows where I would have ended up if that third one would have trickled in.

No, I kinda agree with what you're saying tbf. Just find Rother's tone tiresome. Not that he gives a sh*t of course, why would he.

fair enough, but his overly righteous tone pretty much is replicated throughout the thread by all sides. who's the best fan really is a tiresome subject, it makes everyone look like c*nts
