MmmMonsterMunch Readingensian - You're brushing over the fact that quite a lot of our players are on bumper money these days - Pearce, Kebe, HRK, Pog, McAnuff, Drenthe, Williams, Bridge, McCarthy, Roberts, Mariappa to name a few.

We've not sold anyone & had the annual summer sale. We are spending more money than ever from what I can see.

Yes, however surely four years of parachute payments will more than cover this extra spend no? The underlying fact is that we lack goals and need investment to increase our chances of bouncing back first time. Otherwise I can see this all getting very messy with our new owner in place. We've already learnt he isn't as patient as Sir Mad.

I'm not expecting a two or three million pound signing, just an indication of some serious intent to compete for an automatic promotion place.

So having the probably the 2nd/3rd highest wage bill in the division doesn't indicate intent to compete? What does then?! What about all the new investment in the scouting network, academy etc? That stuff doesn't come for free.

I suspect we need to sell to buy at this point. Hopefully we can sell Pog & get someone else in upfront that costs a lot less.

Why is being knee-jerk or short-sighted when you voice a concern that the players currently gracing our first 11 are not the best players we have and that, with one week left of the transfer window, we desperately need another striker, at the very least?

Just some hymns for some of you that clearly cannot see further than the press reports after the game.

Was that worth it?

Yes, yes it was. For me at least.

You're wanting failure. What kind of fan wants their team to fail?

None of us want failure, we just want a manager in place who knows what he is doing.

After four games? You sir, are a prize tit head.

Sorry if you thought we were gonna walk the league, well.....

Christ on a bike, as some have said already, new style will sort itself out, teething in problems.

Striker & attacking midfielder and everyone will be laughing next weekend. :D

Adkins doesn't know what he's doing? He took Southampton from league one to the Prem playing good football. What planet are you on you deluded oxf*rd

MmmMonsterMunch Sandman only comes on here to wum - Never anything remotely constructive or positive to say.

Wrong sometimes I wum sometimes I don't.

I'm saying the people shouldn't overreact to the loss but equally people like you who go on as if everything is positive and there are no problems whatsoever are also deluded. Far more constructive than your attitude. there can be a happy medium.

How arrogant of Royal91 to think that you can only play football one way and if you don't play it like that then you're rubbish.

Ok we pay all these players huge wages to get us back up then what ???

We get up there, and these players on huge wages are not good enough to keep us up there, back to square one again

Thats if they can get us back up

Ahaa, you are Sir John Madejski and I claim my £5.00!

On a serious note as a newly-relegated team I would expect our wage bill to be in the top three for the division. Our budgets would have included such risk so we really shouldn't be forced in to a position to sell to buy. Investment in scouting networks and the academy is all fantastic, but not so pleasing if the first team isn't performing as it should.

I agree it is early doors and perhaps too early to judge, but it's not looking promising is it?

May I just remind people of the first 6 games of the 11/12 season

Millwall (H) DRAW 2-2
Leicester (A) WON 0-2
Portsmouth (A) LOST 1-0
Barnsley (H) LOST 1-2
Hull (A) LOST 1-0
Watford (H) LOST 0-2

TOTAL POINTS- 4

We already have more points than the 11/12 season and we have played two games less. As we all know, we went on to become champions that season after a very mediocre half of the season.
the majority of you need to stop over-reacting. Yes today was a very disappointing result but we are 4 games into a 45 game season, its hardly been a disastrous start. We may be a couple of players light still but there is over a week left of the window, Patience is the key. We were never going to walk the league to we cannot expect to win every game, people need to be more realistic.

I posted this on the Team for Blackpool thread, but maybe it's just as pertinent here

Are we going to get the old "Williams isn't match fit" rubbish or what? Why isn't he starting? And he SHOULD be match fit - they should all be match fit unless they're carrying a bloody injury. When Williams has come out he's looked great - start him and if he tires, which he shouldn't, bring him off after 70 mins - having given us a good chance of taking a lead and holding it. I'm sure Blackman is a nice bloke, but per-lease, he's NOT our best fit striker. If Pog wants away, for the love of God, someone come and get him. ALF should be starting every day of the week ahead of Blackman imo. And what's the deal with Mariappa? Is he out of favour or what? And WHY? He should be starting ahead of either Pearce or Morrison at the moment. If I was Dellor, these are the questions I'd be asking - as well as clarifying whether Kebe was fully fit to start a game.

Bit of a rant, but I don't really care tbh - I've had a tough few days - football is normally a release but it sounded as if today's game was absolutely dire and we lost to a sloppy goal.

Haha. Yep constantly harking back to Brian is clearly constructive.....

Get over it. Last season was shite, the rot had set in, he had to go. Possibly hamstrung by the poor signings but shite happens like that in football. Their confidence was on the floor & fresh ideas were needed. He's now got himself a good job - something he'd never have got if we hadn't taken a MASSIVE PUNT on him.

I prefer to be glass half full when it comes to football. Don't see the point of attending otherwise TBH.

Again you're so focused on your opinion being the only one and a pre-conceived idea about myself that you haven't actually read or taken on board anything I've said about our current situation and just made a cheap shot. Grow Up.

Merely because you jumped on my typo...

45 game season? Please explain.

Also please just accept that some people, myself included, think that 5 out of 12 points is a poor start to a season. no need to throw a strop or start banging on about patience just accept that others think it is a poor start.

And 4 points from the first 6 games for the 2011/12 season was also a poor start to a season so not sure what your point is.

I don't see how anyone can say anything 4 games in!!! Do you not actually see past the next match? If we have a CAT1 academy it means we can get access to better players. If we have a better scouting network again we should have a better chance of signing good players.

We've lost away in a crap game, on a crap pitch to a crap goal. Nothing to see here folks.
