A manager is paid to do two things

by Shinfield » 17 Dec 2012 23:54

1. Despite the tools he has, he is paid to find the best possible way of getting a positive result in every game. Now in reality you are probably not going too many against the top six in this division but you must get something when play the likes of Villa, Wigan, Southampton etc even if its a bore draw. Brian has not discovered how to do this.

2. Judge players - quite frankly his summer signings are showing that at the top level his judgement is lacking.

In conclusion he is therefore not doing the job he's paid to do!

But, he's not entirely at fault. Overall this is our 3rd season in the Prem and not once have the club invested in the squad to a level which makes us competitive. In our 1st season only the tactical know-how of Sir Steve kept us up but even then we didn't give Steve the ammo to improve and maintain our status in the 2nd season and we were relegated.

As fans I firmly believe we are being mugged off. The stadium is sold out almost every game. Ticket prices are up yet we haven't got a competitive team. I suggest, and maybe this why people say Berkshire folk aren't as passionate as other fans in the country, we are too nice a bunch of supporters. I am passionate about this club and pi$$es me off going to games KNOWING we won't get a result.

I think Brian and AZ need to understand we want and deserve more. We r doing our part but Brian if you can't work out a way of getting a result, despite the limitations of the current squad, you should be a man and resign and AZ don't spin us bull$hit. If you've got the money invest it in a manager and players who will help us be competitive in the majority of PL games. If not be honest with us and tell us what you are trying to achieve with OUR club.

Quite simply Brian is going to get the chop unless the fans vocally turn on him and the club get the message. A the moment we have a new owner who thinks he will rock the boat and upset the fans he's trying to win over his he sacks 'the messiah'.

Either put up or shut up, basically.

Stop being so oxf*rd polite and respectful. Football is a pantomime. If you're happy, yell at the baddies. If you're happy with this shower of shit, carry on!

If you're unhappy then make yourself heard. The club wont do oxf*rd all if they think the fans are content.

F*ck off

Whatever happens Brian deserves to leave this club with dignity.

It's not a pantomine, to those working within it is their job and their life.

Support for McDermott diminishing

by Divvy » 18 Dec 2012 00:22

First time in I don't know how long that his chant didn't a single airing.

Whilst the fans remain 'behind him', or certainly are not choosing to turn on him vocally, clearly fans opinions are changing.

Booing at half-time and full-time suggests he's losing the fans. It'll be a real shame if it gets personal after everything he's done here, but it doesn't feel far away if the club don't make a change soon.

I do have an issue with this comment but it is completely correct. The only way Brian would go is if the fans turned. Wouldn't be a nice thing to see at all though.

It's incorrect and hopefully something that will never happen.

Brian will go when those in charge believe he is no longer the right man for the club. It should not be up to the 'fans', who do not come to close to having all the relevant information, as to when the guy loses his job.

WR - I think the fans turning on Brian would force the owners to make a change actually. Once you lose the fans there isn't really a way back even at a meek club like ours.

(I am not saying I agree with doing that FTR) but if the fans turned he would sooner rather than later be gone.

RoyalBlue It's not intended as a boast but I would wager I have overseen far more of these types of situations in business, as part of my profession

Ok you win.

If it had just been "more" then I might have put up an argument but "far more", well, I can't compete with that.

I don't think Hammond and Zingarevich are so weak as to bow to the wishes of a baying mob.

Reading fans would never turn on Brian to the scale that they would need to in order to fore a change (eg the Keen abuse at Blackburn) and that is something we should be happy about. He doesn't deserve that.

The club will make the change when they deem it necessary and correct, and no amount of mumbling and grumbling in the stands will change that.

Funny isn't it how in football it seems okay to talk about how we can get a guy sacked, a guy who we all consider to be a lovely person and has done great things for our club. If we were considering doing this to any other member of society in a different profession our actions would seem quite barbaric.

It's kind of annoying that it's come to this. Why didn't they shore up the backroom staff with a couple of PL experienced coaches? He was always going to need some help this season.
