HoundZip We are a limited side which is perfectly understandable. We really should not be anywhere near the play offs.
We just need to scramble enough points to avoid being dragged into the bottom three.
We are but really have to expect better than those errors. Mbengue is obvs young and inexperienced but 3 errors of that magnitude- we’re a lot better than that
It’s just 3 massive individual errors.
2 awful Brum passes ended in goals for them which is incredibly disappointing

We do have to keep on reminding ourselves that survival this season is everything.
I get a bit fed up with reading about "individual errors" from posters and managers.
When it happens so often it is really that the players are just crap defenders.
The other thing about "playing well".
You can look as though you are "playing well" if the other side sits back and defends a 3 goal lead (it might have been 5 with the Chong and Deeney chances in the second half but in fairness we might have scored 2 with less clear cut chances in the first).
Football is mainly about creating chances and scoring goals-obviously if you don't do that the best that can be hoped for is a 0-0 and if you draw every game you are likely to get relegated.
We heard it about England the other night that they played well-they scored one goal from a penalty and made about 3 other chances.
Our team just does not make enough chances and defensively we are erratic.
The players are all so-so apart from Ince and after a win (when we didn't "play well") last week our expectations once again rise.
We can comment on each game on here which releases some of our frustration which is natural but I come back to Zip's point that whatever personnel we put out they are a bang average lot who need to be on top of their game to get points.
Survive this season and we can then really hope for better IF the manager can bring in players of a better standard rather than a few inexperienced hopefuls and ageing injury-prone seniors that we have this season.
Yes , people can argue whether it should be Long/Carroll up front or any other combination but overall IMHO Ince, both senior and junior, are doing ok for now.

I wouldn't even say any of those goals were just an individual error. They were general poor play amongst multiple players with some individual errors too.
Mbengue's is the closest and at his age you shrug your shoulders at one of those. It happens.

Wasn't Luton red button?

YorkshireRoyal99 I think it was a case of 3 points dropped on the night as they didn't play well, but essentially hand them a 3 goal lead and you're never going to get anything. Errors happen, but I do think the first 2 goals annoyed me more than Mbengue's, as stuff like that happens. Whereas the first goal is a number of mistakes, the second goal is also sloppy as well and outside of that, we were the better team. Ince has a point, score when we were on top in the first 20 minutes and it's a different game.
Then again, what goes around comes around. Shouldn't have really lost last night, but shouldn't have really won last week against Coventry, so it's give and take really. What matters is we have 32 points after 23 games, a solid foundation for the rest of the season. I think everyone from Bristol City in 17th downwards can be in a bit of fear of the drop, I don't think anyone above that will get dragged into serious trouble unless there is a really bad spell of form, which is entirely possible.
Just react and bounce back against Swansea and claim 3 points and we will be in good nick then.

amenskipper Our form is patchy. Not likely to see us relegated, not likely to challenge for promotion.
We're exactly like a Stoke or a Birmingham!
What I'd like to see is some sort of top down club ethos and belief and vision over what we're doing, where we're going and how we're doing it. Which I don't think we've had since Coppell.
We'll get stronger in the next few seasons, I believe. If we can just stay settled, invest in some youthful structure and grow into a solid unit. A few seasons off. But some shrewd signings and some good quality from our youth set up, and we'll get back into a position where people talk about how we're run with admiration.
I don't really care about being promoted, but being a solid top team in the division with the occasional promotion/relegation would be awesome. Another cup run would be *chefs kiss*.
But bring back the pride, please!!

Mid Sussex Royal 11th place, 10 wins and 32 points at half way is way better than I guess anyone predicted at the start of the season...we are only 2 points off the top 6.
Yet there is still this fear of relegation on this forum, including me.
Is this because of what Ince continually says in the pressers?
I can only recall one side in the past 15 seasons going bad and getting relegated from where we are...Millwall I think, can't even remember when it was
