I'd be tempted to wager that anybody who saw Peterborough away would agree with me.

I was there. I disagree. He's been made the scapegoat for that performance when he was only one of seven or eight poor players that day.

He's just not cut out for English football - too slow for the Prem, too studied for the kick and rush of the second division. I reckon he'll do well in the French top flight.

An absolutely ridiculous signing in the first place given the position we were in at the time.

He is quality though but should be playing regularly and with better players.

Ian, you can tell that from listening on the radio? Promise you I'm not much a fan of his. But thought the stage was set for him. Oppo down to 10 .. best way of taking advantage is to get the ball and play through them. Sure he can't tackle, his decision making is not the best ... but he can make a pass on occasions.

Yes, especially when added to all the comments about how QPR were very physical and it wasn't a game for a play maker on here.

Marek needs space and time on the ball. He isn't going to get that in the Championship.

Spot on. His ball retention and passing were fantastic in the first half that day. Yet he was made the scapegoat for giving the ball away ON THE EDGE OF THEIR BOX which lead to their equaliser. Yet he got blamed despite not a single tackle going in when the ball travelled the length of the pitch. Let's not forget we didn't suddenly get any better or become more watertight after he went off and we still lost the game. The first and third goals both highlighted our overall frailties at the back, showing that it was a collective failing rather than down to one player.

Rodgers was for me the problem at P'boro. 4 central midfielders standing watching them take us apart with width and no effort to make a tactical change.

I liken this to the kebe situation , kebe trys to take people on if he gets tackled 1 in 3 thats not good enough for Reading fans despite no other player (before Jobi) every taking anybody on. An example of who Reading fans expect would be Cristiano Ronaldo


Mareks searching balls dont always come off but then there isnt any other player in our squad trying those kind of balls. An example of who Reading fans expect would be somebody like Pirlo


we cant get world class players in a championship team with no budget but ill happily take players that can give us world class moments especially when mixed in with solid work horses (most of our squad)

No he's not! And those who were at the game should have noticed how QPR became far less physical after they were rightly reduced to 10 men! His introduction would have been far more productive than our pointless and pretty aimless hoofball!

Marek really polarises opinion.

I have got a mate that really rates him but I think he’s atrocious.

It’s no good playing good passes, if no one can read it. He rarely sets up any goals, and has only scored twice.

For every amazing pass that rarely comes off, he loses the ball and his poor mobility hurts us defensively. We’ve had such a huge turnover of strikers recently – Doyle, Kits, Lita, N Hunt, Long, Church, Rasiak but none of them can link up with Marek.

Rodgers did give him a chance aswell, he started lots of games in a row.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he got injured at Plymouth and we have been flying since then, obviously not the only reason but I think a big part.

I can’t be bothered to check, but I think if we had some “Snowball” stats, it would should our win/loss record with Marek playing is very poor.

I am sure some would disagree with me but I still think that he should be given a chance. It may be a huge risk but maybe McDermott can bring out the best of Marek? Look at what McDermott has done, he brought out the best in Howard,Long and Kebe. Surely he could do the same with Marek? and I'm no football expert but shouldn't he play some games to get familiar with the style McDermott is playing?

he reminds me of berbatov. Lots of quality, intelligent player and gets a lot of unnecessary stick from fans who prefer a hard worker. It's funny because a few of my mates are fans of man utd and spurs, and in the games they've seen us play with marek in they've all said "he's too clever for your team". Anyway, definitely get him off the wage bill and sell him to a prem club where he can play with better players and make a lot of you eat humble pie.

But Berbatov isn't lazy, he works hard and there are plenty of stats to back that up. It's just moronic fans, listening to even more moronic memebers of the press, who don't have a clue about the game.

Unless Marek becomes a 1st choice player (which he wont) there is no way BmC will keep him as part of the squad, when the wages can be put to much better use elsewhere.

Who said he was poor? The Czech manager doesn't pick the team for Reading in the Championship, nor does he post on these boards. He also doesn't pick Marek regularly when he has no injury worries from what I remember.

He doesn't pick Marek due to an 'incident' when with the national team, I can't remember what happened but other players were involved aswell. I can't remember who the other players were so I cannot check (or should that be Czech ) to see if they have since played. I think it may have involved drinking, but I seem to remember Marek denying any wrong doing.

To be picked for the Czech national side doesn't mean a lot these days-it's a side that has swiftly gone from being amongst the best to being third rate.
FFS The Scots beat them the other day.
As for Marek I would be surprised if we got much of a fee for him.

I've just done a quick google check and it was alleged players went out partying after a defeat to Slovakia. The coach was sacked,the captain retired and six players were kicked out of the squad.
