Wizard Let's hope Convey can refind some form then...

I would like to think that either Henry or Kebe can fill the void when he leaves, which he will obviously do, I think I read somewhere that left wing is Kebe`s prefered position.

I also think that SHunt should take a good look at the other 4 players that have left from our record breaking team, only Sidders has had anything that resembles success, and that was only after a spell in Chelsea reserves..that also applies to two certain managers that thought they were better than us!!!...still, your choice Stevie boy

He was released by Brentford for a reason.

Stephen Hunt - Fook off.

A. They're not, some just object to their players going on TV and effectively saying they want to go to a bigger club.

Surely every player should aspire to go to a bigger and better club.

Or should they just plod along at what they beleive to be their level?

Privately they can aspire to be whatever they oxf*rd want. However they shouldn't come out and say it on national tv.

If only all of our players could go on TV and state that they had no desire to play in the Premier League. That would be so much better.

Did you watch the bloody interview? Every question he was asked he managed to turn it into being about his career.

He's shown in the past that he wont let his performances suffer if a big club does come in for him. Personally I think this transfer window is going to be a big waste of time with very little money changing hands in the financial climate and the likes of Doyle and Hunt are big risks as they had a poor season in the Premiership last season. Can see him going in the summer.

I wasn't aware he said that. I understood he just said he wanted to play in the Premiership. Doesn't that include Reading then based on our current form? Rightly or wrongly people are assuming he's putting himself in the shop window so he can get picked up by another club. Regardless of what his intentions are, he's still rated very highly by people in the game who know what they are talking about, not like some of the idiots on here.
Guess what? football being football, players will come and go, we agreed the £5M sell clause. The club have decided this is either good business or expect it to be enough of a deterrant.
Whatever happens he's been a great servant for us. I just can't believe the twats who think salgging him off is justified by their interpretations of a tv interview.
The mans obviously got some ambition, good for him. He owes us nothing.

When you are contracted to a club you do not come out and say you want to be somewhere better, which is what he effectively did. We gave him his big break, we pay his wages, therefore he should show some respect.

he did say on the program that getting relegated last season ruined his summer and that there was unfinished business at reading, ie getting us promoted again

he also said, he feels playing in the champiosnhip this season hso career has taken a step backward and he wants to see his career moving forward he would like to move to a "big club" (and lets be honest here there are, currently, bigger clubs than reading)

i am sure we could all argue about what a "bigger club" than reading means.

I hope that would rule out the bolton/blackburn/stoke/hull/wigan/fulhams of the world

if everton/villa/spurs came in for him and the money was right then we should wish him all the best

I would. However him coming out and saying that he wants to leave to play at a higher level whilst contracted to our club is something I object to.

londinium Surely every player should aspire to go to a bigger and better club.

Or should they just plod along at what they beleive to be their level?

I'm reminded of a Fans' Forum when Pardew was still manager. The question of loyalty came up (can't remember in what context) and Pardew said that every player at the club wanted to play for Manchester United, he wanted to manage them[1], and Marcus (who was also there) wanted to play in goal for them.

Boomer than nodded and said "£100,000 a week" and grinned like a Cheshire cat.

There are very very few players who actually play for the club they support. In general they are not fans, they are professionals, and like nearly all professionals they will try to make the best career for themselves that they can. That means playing to the best of their ability for their current employers, while hoping to get headhunted by someone who will pay more.

[1] Given that I was there when he said it, I really shouldn't have been so surprised that he oxf*rd off to West Ham at the first opportunity.
